@ Atlantis.....
Terminal 2, T2, will come on the place where you have now the huge and totally empty DHL Building 2. This is the one next to the Diamant.
If I'm not mistaken that building is presently being used by Swissport, and therefor not empty.....
If your statement is correct, they will have to be relocated... to a less-convenient spot maybe?

Aviapartner is also not located in a very convenient spot at present (under terminal B), not to talk about the lack of parking facilities airside for the equipment from both handling companies...
Any news on where the handling companies for BRU will move to?

Front Park 1: This used to be an open and free toilet, but recently it became only accessible with a parking ticket.

The aim of this innovation is probably to deter some homeless people that hang around, dressed up like regular passengers.

I noticed some spots on the roof parking with a very strong urine smell.

I see that it also works by scanning an Interparking card (thus without a ticket).

And the toilets in the nearby main airport building remain freely accessible to everybody.

Hence, I don't see the necessity of such a measure.

Let's hope, as a plane spotter point of view, the same won't happen at FP3... Having to walk till the terminal building won't be convenient.

The demolition of these old buildings (TEAMCO / Sabena Technics / Virigin Expres) has been going on for a while now, soon clearing the area for the new DHL facilities.

Some other construction or maintenance work going on, forcing this incoming DL to a remote parking position.

Pavement renovation works in progress on taxiway T, some stands on the southern side of Terminal B are closed.

Will Hangar 117 be demolished too, or will it remain in place? It seems Lufthansa Technik still has/had a reasonable amount of people working there?

Various images of the future DHL site indicate that H117 is going to disappear. In fact, some minor demolition has already been done at the ground floor level of H117.

I don't know the number of the LH Technik hangar, but H117 is the former JAF / SN hangar.

I'm not sure if this picture accurately describes the future DHL facilities, because this picture would suggest that the airport perimeter road would turn North of the FEDEX building, and remain parallel with the Haachtsesteenweg, rather than continuing straight between the FEDEX building and H117 as it is now.

It's also safe to assume that they will turn the DHL logo towards RWY25R. 8-)

Right... For some reason, I always mix up those two hangars.
Thanks! ;-)

The taxiway is being renovated, some stands and remote stands are blocked so the taxiway makes a few extra bends around that area. This bird could still end up at the B-terminal.

Is the renovation of taxiway T a regular renovation or an "upgrade" for A380 ops?

I don't think taxiways need to be strengthened to enable A380 ops. I believe the A380 even has lower pavement loading than a 77W.

Just a question:
I made use of the Connector as a pax 2 times lately and I noticed there were flight announcements all the time that could be heard in various languages (NL/FR/ENG, but also Spanish, German, Italian,.. depending on the airline). All very noisy...
I thought BRU made use of the 'silent airport concept' ?
(http://www.brusselsairport.be/en/blog_b ... 012/24558/) which I liked very much. Less noise, less stress and people who don't use/notice the informationscreens don't listen to announcements either imo.
Has the concept changed or just coincidence?

It should be local to the gate
The sound is loud but very clear
Not too bad imo

Thx. I could understand at the gate but it was in/throughout the connector/shopping area...maybe too many missing (read shopping) pax
Sound was clear and understandable, but annoying...I love silent airports ;) wish there were more, because the more anouncements there are, the less people listen to it...

Walking through BRU 5 days a week ... It's definitely not a silent airport anymore. During peak times announcements every 20 sec :/

If current growth continues, by the end of the year BRU might reach close to 24 million pax... The current capacity is 28 million. Even if the impressive growth slows down, they might reach capacity in about 4 to 5 years.
Given the time it takes to realise a major project in Belgium, even more so Flanders, I hope they'll finish A-pier West in time.

When ready, how much extra capacity might it bring? With a continuous growth, it might be wise for BRU to start develop beyond APW, if they're not doing it already...

They probably are. It's already been said that once DHL moves into its new facility, their old current buildings can eventually be demolished to make way for a new terminal. They're in the perfect location for that.

Hi Conti764,

Yes, by the end of this year the final decision will be taken. They are of course already a while busy with it and with future possible developments at the airport also.

According to my estimates they will end up around 23.6 million. So a little bit less, but still a considerable growth ...
