Within weeks of the Aer Lingus takeover being completed, Ryanair is expected to reveal details of additional winter services from Dublin that will see it square up for what could be increasingly vigorous competition between the rivals at the capital.
It will make for a price war that will benefit consumers, particularly on routes to continental Europe.
The number of Ryanair aircraft based at Dublin next winter will rise from 21 to 25, but could be increased to 30.

Michael O'Leary has said that Ryanair intended to bid for five take-off and landing slots at London's Gatwick airport that must be relinquished by BA owner IAG before the Aer Lingus acquisition is allowed to proceed.
The European Commission has insisted that any airline that secures control of any of the five slots that are being surrendered by IAG at Gatwick must be allowed access to IAG's frequent flyer programme Avios.
However, the points on IAG's frequent flyer programme would only be clocked up by a rival airlines' passengers on services using one of the five slots that will be relinquished at London's Gatwick airport.

5.1. At the request of a New Air Services Provider that does not have a comparable FFP of its own, IAG shall allow it to be hosted in its FFP for the Relevant London-Irish City Pair(s) on which the New Air Services Provider has commenced or increased service. The FFP Agreement with the New Air Services Provider shall be on terms such that the New Air Services Provider shall have equal treatment vis-à-vis the accrual and redemption of Miles on the particular Relevant London-Irish City Pair as compared with other members of the oneworld Alliance.
5.2 Any agreement relating to a particular Relevant London-Irish City Pair and entered into pursuant to this Clause 5 shall:
(a) Lapse automatically in the event that the New Air Services Provider ceases to operate the new or increased service on that Relevant City Pair; and
(b) Have an effective duration of up to five (5) years at the choice of the New Air Services Provider. Thereafter, or if it elects to have a shorter initial duration than that to which it is entitled pursuant to this Clause 5.2, the New Air Services Provider shall have a right to renew the agreement on an evergreen basis for further periods of one (1) year (i.e. rolled over on the same terms) as long as these Commitments are in force, provided it exercises its right of extension by informing IAG in writing no later than two (2) weeks after the IATA Slot Conference preceding the requested extension. The New Air Services Provider also has a right to terminate the agreement, at any time during the initial term or the extensions, upon thirty (30) days' written notice.
5.3 Subject to Clause 5.4, any term included in the frequent flyer agreement entered into pursuant to this Clause 5 can never be less favourable than the corresponding term in any FFP agreement which IAG and the New Air Services Provider have in place as at the Effective Date.
5.4 The conclusion of the FFP agreement shall be subject to the approval of the Commission, as advised by the Monitoring Trustee, in particular as to whether its terms are reasonable.

Total profits for Ryanair in the three months to the end of June grew by 25 per cent on last year to €245m, in line with estimates. Revenues were up 10 per cent to €1.65bn.
In the same period, passenger numbers increased by 16 per cent to 28m thanks to improved load factors, up six per cent to 92 per cent.
The group has taken advantage of this year's second round of oil price weakness - Brent is down 22% since May to $54.17 - to hedge 70% of its 2017 fuel at an average of $66 a barrel. This should save the budget airline $250 million on current figures. Most of its fuel requirement for this year is hedged at a lofty $91.
Ryanair said it expects full year profits to be at the upper end of the predicted range of €940m to €970m. Yet, it has also warned it has “almost zero visibility” over what will happen in the second half of the year.

Ryanair has banned passengers bringing duty-free alcohol onto its UK to Ibiza flights in an effort to stamp out drink-related problems on board.
It has told passengers there will be searches at departure gates and that customers 'showing any signs of anti-social behaviour or attempting to conceal alcohol' will be denied travel without refund or compensation.
Instead, any alcohol purchased at airport duty free shops must be placed in the hold luggage or disposed of at the gate.
"If the alcohol is unsuitable for placing in the hold (eg a plastic bag) then customers will be required to dispose of the alcohol in the bins provided," said the airline.
The new rules have been sent to customers in an email and apply to flights from all UK airports.

Yesterday evening, a Ryanair flight from Derry Airport (Northern Ireland) to Alicante (Spain) had to do a U-turn just minutes after take off because... the baggage from the previous flight was not unloaded. The baggage was offloaded and the flight took off again with a delay of just over one hour.
A passenger reported that the pilot announced "We apologise as we have to turn back, we forgot a bag"'. Back at the airport, it became clear that all baggage from the previous flight was still onboard.
A spokeswoman from City of Derry Airport apologised for the inconvenience caused to passengers and confirmed that an investigation is underway.

Passenger Laurence Gibson was minding his own business on a Ryanair flight from Gdansk to London Stanstedon last Sunday (26th July) when a window frame suddenly fell into his lap. "Landing is the worst part for me and I was already clutching Matt’s (his partner) hand before", the nervous flyer added.
Their flight was booked through Ryanair but it was being operated by Air Explore. Ryanair stated: "We note the dislodging of this window reveal (which is used only to protect the window from scratches) and have asked the operator of this lease-in aircraft (Air Explore) to ensure that it does not recur".
