Nice surprise for the passengers of flight JAF 623 BRU-MIA (operated by Arke B788 PH-TFM) this morning. In addition to the earphones and usual paraphernalia they get on such a flight, they found a bag of candies accompanied by a nice letter:

I have no doubt that it meant "de mooiste tijd van de jaar" for many. However, for a not unconsiderable number of Jetairfly customers, it meant :
- unexpected sometimes unpleasant changes of schedule before departure
- frequent and sometimes very long delays
- in case of delay : poor or no information, poor or downright lack of help to the stranded passengers
- great difficulty and long delay in obtaining the due compensation
- at best indifferent on-board service
A change of name could do a lot of good - provided of course that they become much more customer-friendly.
Yes, Jetairfly has a serious incident every now and then. And when a long haul is involved, the delays are huge because they don't have a long haul fleet and therefore depend on others. But to say that delays are “frequent” is unfair.

The same applies for the way you're minimizing the impact of “Jetair, de mooiste tijd van het jaar”. For years now, Jetair/Jetairfly not only is by far the leading touroperator in numbers, but also in quality. They win the most number of Travel Magazine Travel Awards because the travel trade reflects what the Belgians say: “we love Jetair”. They are by far the number one brand, overclassing the competition, both in numbers ànd overall satisfaction. Remarkable, given the fact they're not even the cheapest in package travel. And regarding aviation, OO-JDL even won the “Travel Magazine Innovation Award”.

If we would do a poll anywhere (be it at Brussels Grande Place, at Blankenberge's or at Benidorm's beachfront) and ask people to what airline your quote "...poor or downright lack of help to the stranded passengers, great diffficulty and long delay in obtaining the due compensation..." refers, I’m quite sure that 90% of the customers will not name Jetairfly, but…

OO-JPT transferred to TUIfly as D-ATUZ.

Why is JAF transferring its aircraft to sister companies, when it has itself to lease planes from other companies?

The latest one: "Belgium's Jetairfly to lease a British B737 shortly" (contents available solely to ch-aviation subscribers)

According to Het Nieuwsblad it seems that JAF will fly from ANR & OST to FCO during the winter, both 3x / week.

Also JAF is going to operate their flights to MIA/SFB itself again iso using Arke.

Correct: FCO in winter will replace MXP in summer and will be reached on Mon, Thu and Sat, both from ANR and OST.

Without giving exact figures JAF is very satisfied with the passengerfigures on the Barcelona route from EBOS.

Does anyone have these figures? On the website of Aena you can find some figures but its not all that clear to me.
Any help?

Perfect, like it should be. Direct flights out of BRU instead of using Arke

Aena figures for May 2015:

OST - BCN 2375 pax, 28 flights = 84,82 PAX/FLIGHT, LF 75,73%
ANR - BCN 2224 pax, 28 flights = 79,43 PAX/FLIGHT, LF 70,92%

Many thanks for these figures.
.
Its cheaper to fly from ANR and with a lower LF this probably means they are making more money from OST.

A rare view in Brussels: two TUI B787s side by side (Jetairfly and Arke)

I may have missed this, but does jetair indeed fly to Tirana from ostend in summer?
Or is this just any error of theirs?

Thank you!
It's honnestly the first time I read about it!
Shouldn't they be doing some form of publicity to make it known more widely, or is this once weekly flight aimed at other markets/customers, with just some residual online sales happening?
very interesting route for sure!

I guess it is one of the ethnic flights they have to several countries, like from CRL to Algeria. But it surprises me that the OST area has a large Albanian community.

Hello,

I have a question. Is the OO-CAN Ostend based? I'd like to see it in Bru but the plane always flies to Ostend.

Every Sunday it operates through BRU on a OST-PMI-BRU-PMI-OST rotation. For the rest: OST based indeed.
