I heard somebody saying this a/c will be used for crew training. This way they could keep the little more expensive -800 flying and the tail clearance would be higher then the -800 too so a little bit more foregiving for training flights... Not sure if this is all correct, maybe some ryanair pilot insider on the forum could confirm? :)

Indeed, it will be used mainly for crew training purposes, but it will also be flown on scheduled services and act as a standby aircraft to cover for operational and technical delays (it has a full interior of 148 seats). It will be mainly positioned at East Midlands airport.
