I would not think UK flights to OST being on the table, or anything at OST to be honest, but then off course, I could be wrong

The company that owns Ostend Airport and the Flemish Government are trying to attract an airline to operate flights between Ostend and the UK. About ten years ago I flew with Ryanair twice from Prestwick to Ostend with a change of aircraft at Stansted. Unfortunately the Stansted to Ostend route only lasted about nine months. I hope that Ryanair will look at restarting flights from Prestwick to Belgium whether it's Charleroi or Brussels.

TUNIS, JUNE 23 - Ryanair is reportedly in talks with the Tunisian cabinet to open a connection with the North African country, according to the director-general of the 'National office of Tunisian tourism' (ONTT), Abdellatif Hamam.
According to Hamam, Ryanair is interested in flying to a number of Tunisian cities, starting with Tabarka, in order to compete with other European airlines that already fly into Tunisia, including EasyJet (London Luton), Vueling Airlines (Barcelona El Prat), TUfly (Hannover), and Transavia France (Paris Orly).

Ryanair has neither confirmed nor denied the report. CEO Michael O'Leary has recently stressed how the Dublin-based form vies to expand in North Africa, the Middle East, as well as Israel, Egypt, Algeria and Libya.

Indeed. Ryanair tops IATA's "International" list, but Delta tops "International + Domestic":

3 China Southern Airlines 100,683,000
4 United Airlines 90,439,000
5 American Airlines 87,830,000
6 Ryanair 86,370,000
7 China Eastern Airlines 66,174,000
8 easyJet 62,309,000
9 Lufthansa 59,850,000
10 Air China 54,577,000

Ryanair is nothing but the flight school of Emirates, Qatar and Etihad, with literally hundreds of his experienced pilots participating in the assessment program to join one of the major airlines of this world in the Gulf. No surprise if you know the work/pay conditions offered, as well as the flat carrier opportunities linked to it: flying your whole life for a regional carrier on old fashioned planes which are stripped of anything which could make the job comfortable isn't doable till 65, especially not when you are constantly asked to cut corners to save a few cents here and there!
A few years to log the hours and gain some valuable operating skills to be called an experienced pilot and off they all go, apart from some idiots who think they are the man because they are called captain at 25, while not having the authority to decide on a full potable water uplift even! ROTFL!
In ten years they'll be here too like all the rest; we've seen many cases of Ryanair hotshots joining Emirates after all, already.
You should see our crew centre here in DXB: full of ex FR guys, all pleased to have left this regional episode behind them. I am one of them and happy for it every day!
How many EK pilots are flying for Ryanair, in comparison? ;)
Think about it: MOL isn't spending a cent not absolutely needed, and his crews are no exception to that. They are paid nothing to write home about in the end and are made to work their ass off till they quit voluntarily. Given the opportunities offered here, they are currently doing so faster than he can replace them even. Wait till the Paris air show, and another batch of wide bodies ordered by the ME3 and he'll be really crying for crews to fly for his little regional airline!
Well, you either like or hate Ryanair, but it is a fact that they at least have a healthy balance sheet without state sponsors or dirt cheap oil...

Emirates and the likes are big bubbles which unfortunately cannot snap because they do not have to comply to the same absurd rules European airlines have to...

Xmas is early this year! :)

On other news, Ryanair said today an anonymous caller reported there was an explosive device on board one of its aircraft in Poland but that the report was a hoax.

A Polish police spokeswoman said a security sweep of the aircraft at Warsaw's Modlin airport had found no evidence of any explosive. Meanwhile the airport had been evacuated.

I arrived at Malaga airport over two hours before my flight to Prestwick only to be faced with massive luggage check in queues. I have been in the queue for well over an hour now and it will be at least another 15 minutes before I get to the front. In over 20 years of flying I have NEVER seen anything like this shambles. I doubt if I will even have time to go and buy something to eat and drink for the flight. There must be about 1000 waiting to check in their luggage. Online check in is a complete waste of time.

We are talking here about 9 slots per day, not per week! And Ryanair will fill those slots only if it has the necessary aircraft and after the profitability at AMS has been evaluated in comparison with other platforms where the aircraft could be introduced.

Last month, a number of academics and industry figures criticised Ryanair’s hiring practices at a hearing of the European Parliament’s employment and social affairs committee, which was inquiring into conditions in aviation.

The Irish airline has since written to a number of them warning that should they “make defamatory claims” about Ryanair in any other forum, it will initiate proceedings against them without further notice.

It sent a letter to Dirk Gillis of the University of Ghent in Belgium, who contributed to a report on the company’s employment practices produced by the third-level institution.

The airline’s letters, signed by its legal affairs director Juliusz Komorek, say the report is inaccurate, discredited and based on an anonymous internet survey.

They also argue that the university never established whether respondents worked for Ryanair or any other carrier.

While MEPs who speak at committee hearings are covered by parliamentary privilege, witnesses who give evidence to them are not.

A Ryanair spokesman said yesterday that it did not comment on legal issues. He pointed out that the company wrote to the University of Ghent three times to establish the validity of its survey.

“Their failure to reply with anything other than falsehoods or silence speaks volumes,” the spokesman added.

Budget airline Ryanair has been given landing slots for nine flights a day at Amsterdam’s Schiphol airport from the winter season, the Telegraaf reports.
According to the Telegraaf, Schiphol had hoped to attract Ryanair to Lelystad airport, where there are major expansion plans. Ryanair currently flies from Eindhoven, Maastricht and Groningen.

Yep. The same excuse as always: "if we have the necessary aircraft". As if they don't know when Boeing will deliver. Same for "evaluation of profitability at AMS": EasyJet has already done that for them (EasyJet has added a 5th aircraft in AMS).

The reason why Ryanair isn't in a hurry for AMS is because Brussels Airlines has shown how legacy carriers can compete against Ryanair: with competitive rates.
