- Around 1,400 passengers of the Polish airline LOT were grounded at Warsaw's Chopin airport on Sunday, June 21 after hackers attacked the airline ground computer systems used to issue flight plans, the company said, according to Reuters.

The computer system was hacked in the afternoon and fixed after around five hours, during which 10 of the state-owned carrier's national and international flights were canceled and about a dozen more delayed, spokesman Adrian Kubicki said.

"We're using state-of-the-art computer systems, so this could potentially be a threat to others in the industry," Kubicki said. The attack in now being investigated by the authorities.

Oeps...

One of Arkefly's 787-800 - the "Dreamcatcher" - had some issues just before departure from Tenerife to Amsterdam. A stewardess wanted to give the passengers some fresh air, so she opened the front door. Then this happened:

The slide will be removed and the door will be "inoperational for evacuation", thus reducing the maximum number of passengers from 307 to 220. The MEL sets out which seats have to be blocked.

During her current State visit to Germany, Queen Elizabeth II of England did not travel with the official Avro RJ aircraft of the Kingdom, but with a private Embraer Legacy 600 belonging to the owner of the Tottenham Hotspurs, Daniel Levy. The aircraft is registered G-THFC (for Tottenham Hotspurs Football Club).

But she could count of the federal Republic of Germany to provide her with a much larger plane for the flight from Berlin to Frankfurt:

Kim Jong Un executes designer of his new airport because he didn’t like it

Image

North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un posed for one of his trademark glossy photo shoots in Pyongyang’s new airport this week - but a different story had unfolded behind the scenes. Airport design chief Ma Won Chun disappeared late last year, and is thought to have been executed after Kim voiced his dissatisfaction with the airport.

Hail pummels Delta 747 over China; NWA's "Spirit of Beijing" may face scrapyard

Hail smashed the radome of this Delta 747 on the June 16 flight from Detroit to Seoul. The damaged plane, a 26-year-old Boeing 747-400, was dubbed "The Spirit of Beijing" by Northwest Airlines Corp. before Delta bought the airline in 2008.

It was flying from Detroit to Seoul two weeks ago when it encountered a hailstorm. It's not clear whether the plane, registered as tail No. N664US, will return to service (Delta is phasing out its 747 fleet by 2017).

Flight 159 was about two-and-a-half hours from landing at South Korea's Incheon International Airport June 16, when the pilot warned passengers to sit down and buckle up. The few unbuckled passengers initially flew up to hit the overhead bins. Anything loose in the cabin flew. All of the meal and beverage carts were spilled.

http://www.air-journal.fr/2015-07-03-ai ... 46653.html

Air France expects to save up to € 20 million per year by increasing the price of reduced rates air tickets for staff .
A "not insignificant" increase in ticket prices will be a problem to all colleagues who live in the province and come to work in Paris, said the SNPL.

A number of pilots live on the "Côte d'Azur", and take a flight to go to their base at CDG, for instance.

Contrary to the main text, the last sentence is in italics - meaning it's my comment.
