The big loadfactor topic
The big loadfactor topic
I find it Always interesting to read in a trip report how big the loadfactor was. Just to have an idea if the route is a success. So I thought why not making a topic where you can drop the loadfactor of your flight for those who don't want to write a whole trip report. I will start:
1. Date:30/10
Airline:British Airways
Departure airport:Brussels Airport
Arrival airport:London Heathrow
Flight number:BAW389
Aircraft:Airbus A320
LF:75-80% (business 100%)
2. Date:02/01
Airline:British Airways
Departure airport:London Heathrow
Arrival airport:Brussels Airport
Flight number:BAW404
Aircraft:Airbus 319
LF:99% (business 100%) (only 2 places weren't occupied)
I hope you find this also interesting?

Good idea. I would only transfer the topic from "Civil aviation" to "Airline experiences and trip reports"

Hi SN1234,
Will do this for my flight to/from Malta next week (holidays so plenty of time to observe ) and for my last trip of this year to San Francisco (via FRA on A380). The latter will be more difficult since I don't know how to collect the information: just walking around on the two floors might not be allowed Maybe I will just ask ...
Cheers,
Danny

Re: The big loadfactor topic
I'm doing BRU-BCN on Thursday and BCN-BRU on Sunday with FR. I'll let you know about those ones.
I can give you some LF's from my summer trip to Australia, but that's already 3-4 months ago, don't know if that's still informative?

When in doubt, hold on to your altitude. No-one has ever collided with the sky.

Re: The big loadfactor topic
Flew QR in October. BRU-DOH dayflight on 787: loadfactor approx 90% in economy. DOH-BRU nightflight on 787: loadfactor approx 30% in economy, which was very welcome cause the 787 in a 3-3-3 configuration is terrible. I even considered upgrading to business for the return flight, but decided not to do it, when I saw the almost empty seat map during online check in. Almost all passenger had 3 seats and could sleep 'totally flat', I called it a 'pseudo-business experience'.
Re: The big loadfactor topic
Some estimated Ryanair load factors from/to BRU:
- BRU-FCO 14/01/2015: 90%
- FCO-BRU 14/01/2015: 45%
- BRU-LIS 21/01/2015: 85%
- LIS-BRU 21/01/2015: 50%
- BRU-FCO 14/01/2015: 90%
- FCO-BRU 14/01/2015: 45%
- BRU-LIS 21/01/2015: 85%
- LIS-BRU 21/01/2015: 50%

Re: The big loadfactor topic
PRG (on Brussels Airlines) today:
counted more than 150 pax on the A320, so I suppose that's a +/- 90% loadfactor.
Technical question:
How does one calculate the loadfactor on an airline with a business product on shorthaul?
Are the middle seats which are deliberately left open counted, or not?

Re: The big loadfactor topic
I didn't include the middle seats (only in business off course) in my calculation. I tried to make the difference between business and economy.

Re: The big loadfactor topic
Any loadfactor news on all the new connections out of ANR? Doesn't need to be from firsthand, on-board witnesses. Observations from the cafeteria can also be pretty accurate. As they say, "best mates stand ashore"
PS: it surprises me to read here so little after the massive (relatively speaking ) expansion of scheduled flights out of ANR. And a lot of ad-hoc chartering also these last couple of days…
