Re: BRU Summer 2015: latest news, routes, airlines
KLM started flights to Kigali with a 5 weekly service, in 2010. Since 2013, flights are now daily. They are now using both A330-200 and A330-300. Furthermore, KLM has a bigger network than SN.

Because SN flies on triangle flights ! KGL in combination with EBB/BJM/NBO ?sn26567 wrote:Why are so many people flying KLM when The Netherlands have no historic ties with Rwanda, while Belgium has always been present here?
Then the figures show that KLM is not doing that well ! With non-stop direct flights. And this could drive many pax from BRU to AMS (as well in combination with the feeding from AF ? )

And apparently there is some progress. However, ANA is not ready yet to take a decision now. They will wait until the end of the summer to re-evaluate the situation.Airbus A330 wrote:Probably not the right topic to discuss this but there will be a new meeting with ANA All Nippon Airways on Tuesday.
Is that the polite Japanese way to say "no"?

New from Airbus. In addition to its current all A320 fleet, Vueling has ordered A321s, the first of which will enter into service on 3 July. Here is its schedule:CTBke wrote:where will the A321 come from ?

Y240 no? The new configuration.
Re: BRU Summer 2015: latest news, routes, airlines
Correct: Airbus got the order from Vueling at the condition that it could raise the seat number from 220 to 240. It was Vueling that was the inspiration for Airbus (also for Y186 in the A320).crew1990 wrote:Y240 no? The new configuration.

Re: BRU Summer 2015: latest news, routes, airlines
When Vueling will do a BCN-BRU-BCN rotation they will be transporting 480 people in a shot while when Brussels Airlines send their bigger narrow body down there, the A320, they transport only 336 people, if Vueling start coming with the A321 and Wizzair to CRL from Budapest with a A321 I would say that it's really time for Brussels Airlines to look after the A321, as they can easily feel them with a good load factor on some route like Lisabon, Barcelona, Madrid or Tel Aviv plus all the charter flight.

- Slots have been made available for ANA (or already allocated?)
- Administrative problems have been solved
- ANA will visit the airport this summer and will take the decision after
Next to Brussels Airport, Brussels Airlines is also really interested by this Tokyo route.
Re: BRU Summer 2015: latest news, routes, airlines
Would be very wise to codeshare this flights with ANAAirbus A330 wrote: Next to Brussels Airport, Brussels Airlines is also really interested by this Tokyo route.
EDIT: small modification by moderator to correct the quoting a bit!

Was the BRU-TYO route really profitable under the SABENA era?
Re: BRU Summer 2015: latest news, routes, airlines
Don't know, I flew it in 1994 on a B743 that was packed in both directions.

A full plane is no guarantee for profitability.Stij wrote:Don't know, I flew it in 1994 on a B743 that was packed in both directions.

Let's wait and see what will happen when ANA has made up their mind. My guess is they're not only evaluating the route itself but also the outcome of the BE-JP mission: contract negotiations, new business, ...

Re: BRU Summer 2015: latest news, routes, airlines
Indeed. And to be clear to all, the way this should be read is that SN wants ANA on this route as soon as possible and not that SN will launch it themself. The partnership could go further than a codeshare. LH, LX and OS are in a joint-venture with ANA for Europe-Japan.CTBke wrote:Would be very wise to codeshare this flights with ANAAirbus A330 wrote: Next to Brussels Airport, Brussels Airlines is also really interested by this Tokyo route.
Re: BRU Summer 2015: latest news, routes, airlines
exactly... SN could codeshare a lot more in order to use their A330 fleet for other destinations or rotation upgrades to Africa when needed... but I think they always want to fly the destination with SN metal... but maybe it's time to take more benefits from the star alliance network and make better agreements with the partner airlines flying out of brussels

It will be great if Ana come to BRU. They have Frankfurt,Munich,Dusseldorff,Paris,London. It's not too much for them to add BRU? DUS is near Brussels. My japanese friend said to me that ANA doesn't want to come but with Charles Michel (2015)and the economic mission in 2010,2011 ( don't remember the exact year) ,they feel obliged (se sentir obligé) to visit bru installation
