TNT 737 operating for Club Med this summer?

Post by Skystef »

To be confirmed yet, but rumour circulates that touroperator Club Med will use this summer season a 737-300 of TNT, of course not the ones that have been delivered yet.
To be monitored.

Oh yes! By packing well you could certainly put some 300 passengers in the cargo bins! ;-)

What an economy :)

Just found this confirmation on this subject:

For the non-Dutch speakers:

Club Med, the French touroperator, will fly their customers to their holiday-destinations, this summer, with TNT Airways. That is what "De Tijd" (Flemish newspaper) says. Club Med will lease a B737. The coorporation will possible continue for about 3 years. There were 8 interests to fly for Club Med, like SN BA, Thomas Cook and Jetair. The flights of TNT will depart from Brussels/Zaventem. Maybe also Bierset, in the future...

(Bad English, I know  )

A few weeks ago it looked like SNBA got the contract, but it seems to have changed.

So basicly TNT is leasing their B737 to Club Med. But is there anything know about what kind of leasing we are talking about? Wet or Dry.

You're right. They are pure freighter aircraft.

See: http://www.airliners.net/open.file/379561/L/

Unless they are going to get some QC's in the future I don't know how they can cary passengers.
Onward and Upward...

TNT has 5 Boeing 737 on order from a leasing company, so maybe one of them is a QC.

Aren't those B737's still on order pax planes that still need to be changed to cargo planes :?:

Anyway, it's sad to hear that SNBA lost this big contract. But why would Club Med switch if they allready signed the contract with SN (at least it seemed like that in the press release)

I've read somewhere that the reason why they didn't chose for SNBA is that they were looking for planes with 150 ax cpacity while SNBA were offering 132 pax. In addition, they could not offer flights (for all) the moments they were asking for ...

If I am not wrong I read it in 'de Tijd' ...

Indeed its going to either be a QC or they may keep one aside before conversion.

There was one parked on the stand beside me in Geneva the other night...... Smart looking airplane.

When I was surfing on the net I find some serials of the new TNT aircrafts: B737-301: 23513 & 23515 both former US Airways aircrafts that are stored. I don't know if the info is correct.

Good news for aviation, but has anyone stopped and wondered why TNT would want to do this? They would have to get a passenger (probably a QC version) plane, stewards/esses, probabely licences, etc etc etc... for only one plane...
Why not stick with what you do best? Is their cargo bussines not doing well?
Or am I wrong and isn't TNT like DHL? Are they more deverified?
