Last Monday evening, I could not get the 30 minutes free internet access which Telenet claims it is offering.
In favor of quality air travel.

Access to the Brussels Airport 30 min free WiFi is now a tad bit easier: no need to access via Telenethotspot, you can select the "Brussels Airport" SSID now.

As long as they don't upgrade the infrastructure, it's a useless thing. Speed drops dramatically during the busier times of the day, to an unworkable 0,5mbps or less.

Can only agree, slow, not working properly and too few 30min. Heart of Europe, but can't provide proper internet on the airport.

I use the Wifi and never had any problem (I'm a telenet customer for what's worth) but if it's confirmed, this could be an issue.
Usually, I fly to SFO via FRA. Few trips ago (december) I hopped in AMS, and even the 16 euros-a-day-WiFi was unworkable (more than 50% packet loss?!).
Sadly this was a 8+ hours connection, I switched back to the hop in FRA, for that particular reason.
Maybe this was just a one day problem, but still, I'm not taking the risk again.

Right now the euro max rate for 3g/4g is 54 cents per mega.
On the first of july it will be max 24 cents per mega.
=> the wifi is almost useless.

That's not the question even if, depending on your usage, you still definitely want to use a WiFi but this is not the place to discuss this.
The fact is that the WiFi is not working properly, and this could be an issue, because people still use the WiFi...

As from July, Paris Airports (CDG and ORY) will offer free unlimited WiFi.

Come on, Brussels, a little effort to extend your offer!

Please post in English...

As of today, april 2, you can use the wifi for free for 1 hour iso 30 minutes after registering. After that hour you will have to pay; except if you are a Telenet, Boingo or iPass customer.

And an easy way to circumvent that 1-hr limit is to use another email address to re-register after one hour.

Last week I tried to use the free WiFi in the check-in area. I went through the registering process, but then the log-in process seemingly froze when pushing the last button. Also in the past I've tried and failed several times to log in.

This is not uncommon. It happened to me as well several times. And when you try to re-connect, the system tells you your application is no longer valid or has expired :(

Be sure to push the red "connect" or similar buttons ("start surfing") as many times as required!

I can highly recommend Boingo to the frequent traveler. I've been using it for 3 years now, it has gotten me online on many exotic locations... :)

I have also used Boingo successfully, also in BRU, but it usually comes at a cost (except in MIA recently). And we are talking free WiFi in this thread :)

Some of you may have noticed: after many others, Brussels Airport now also offers unlimited free Wi-Fi.

They had no choice, the roaming cost is decrasing again end of this month.
With free wifi they can at least push a few ads and steal personal data indeed...
