Rumours are that Brussels Airlines will equip its a320-fleet with sharklets. Can someone confirm this?

Hi,
Didn't know that equipping with sharklets was possible on older frames !
We have seen this before with the B737-300 but don't think we will see this..
Must be a livery I guess...

Hi,
Rumours over the internet that Lufthansa Cityline will get rid off all their E-jets..
Most of them will be switched to Austrian for their Fokker replacements...
Still they have more of them in the fleet then Austrian can have so maybe a replacement for the soon expected riterements of our Avro- fleet ?

At this stage from what I've heard the plan is still to replace most avros with 319/320 and acquire 5 wet lease 100-seaters as direct avro replacement so I guess chances are rather slim that the embraer will make it to our main fleet... But one never knowscathay belgium wrote:Hi,

I've never flown them but at this stage in the company the philosophy is to move to Airbus only operations so unless a company comes up with a good deal to operate 5 CRJ's for us (just like we have fly be operating the Q400) I don't see them coming any time soon... I personally would love to see VLM operating 5 100-seaters for us especially from a commercial standpoint crews still speak NL-FR-EN and they deliver a high standard of service aswell,...

Had a quick look and yes even an E195 at MTOW (STD Model, not LR/AR) could even take-off at ISA+10°C. Better for the business case to be able to take off, right?cathay belgium wrote:Hi,

Using every extra meters on TWY A for RWY 12 but it is OK and the range at max cruise is 1450NM (+100NM ALT + 45min), so even BMA-MAD would be doable.
I kind of like this E-Jet, though the cabin crew oten have a different point of view and also use the nickname of SambaJet but for another reason, especially in the rear galley.
My first experience was in 2009 with Air Canada on Halifax to YUL. H.A.

I don't know which 100-seaters that will be wet leased, but don't forget that it's perfectly possible that a LH Group member operates these for SN under wet lease like the Q400 of Austrian/Tyrolean (don't they also operate one or a few for Swiss?)
Of course it depends when LH 'retires' them and when SN needs them and if there is a company in the group suitable and willing for such wet lease operations. But if Austrian/Tyrolean operates E-jets, they could also wet lease some to SN like they do now with the Q400.

The CRJ is horrible to fly with if you are above average sized...
Unfortunately I flew in this plane in the past and it's one of my worst flights ever even though it was a little over one hour long. The lack of cabinspace (less then 1.9 meters height) makes that a big sized person (like myself measuring over 2 meters) has to tilt his head on his shoulder when sitting in a windowseat and trust me, that's not a fun way to fly, not even for half an hour... Add a grumpy FA that won't let you switch seats (even though the plane was virtually empty (less then 20 people on board)) and you'll be counting the minutes. I arrived in YUL (flight between IAD and YUL) with a neck that was sore for 3 days (fun if you are only 5 days there).
The return flight was fortunately with a E190 and that plane, even though it has a similar seat count is much more pleasant to fly with, thanks to the bigger space inside it's way more comfortable to fly with.
Give me a Embraer E-series anyday, anytime... but a Bombardier CRJ? Thanks but no thanks, made that mistake once, won't happen again...

Btw, if you see the pic above you'll notice that it's not a fun plane for big people... (3rd row left from the back) and that guy seems to be "OK", now imagine being even bigger and no space for your head. Fun isn't it?

Indeed, the CRJ is NOT a pleasure to be on: I always book seats next to the corridor, and especially on this kind of planes its a must! There's not much to see out a window anyway and it gives you unrestricted entry/exit to your seat. On top of that, it avoids neck problems like Bralo mentions on the CRJ. The Embraer is indeed ok, but what a pity the AVRO is on the way out everywhere. 
Now THAT was a regional jet, more comfortable than a 737 even; at least it is when it has 5 per row, like in Brussels.

So far LH's Premium Economy class seems to be a success, they say that if this success continues, it will be considered to also install similar cabins on aircraft of Austrian, Swiss and Brussels Airlines. At least it will be investigated if it could also work for the other airlines in the group.

But for SN I assume it's not something for the first years, didn't they also look at the option when deciding on their current interior? By now we are already some years later and the market changed already significantly in these few years with ever more Premium Economy seats flying around, but I doubt SN will add a 3rd class soon. But if the success of the Premium Economy classes continue, I'm rather sure they will eventually go for it as well. But if there is one airline in the group doing it first, it will be Swiss (the 77W introduction could be a good moment to try out) or maybe Austrian.

From what I hear is that they are looking to wetlease a few 100-seaters. So I am not sure if these E-jets will be suitable for a 'transfer' to SN.cathay belgium wrote:Hi,

On another note. I think this has been discussed before but I don't feel like searching through this topic.
KLM will start returning their A332 to the leasing company at the end of this year. I think this would be an ideal opportunity for SN to replace/expand their widebody fleet. KLM has 12 A332 so ideal amount for SN's widebody fleet. And they are not so old. It would also be good to have all the same layout in all aircraft.
I am not sure if the engines are the right choice though. Any thoughts?
