Of course there are always exeptions to that rule.
For instance check out c/n 21359: OO-ABB of Air Belgium and then OO-TYB of TEA back in 1982.

OO-VAC will not even need to be repainted. Just a small change of titles...

8O That's also really fast... Belgian beginning airlines are fast, accurate. Look @ Belgium Exell, and now TUI... I hope it is all "verantwoord"...

question

Post by V-Bird »

What i don`t understand.

Belgium was ( in the past years ) alway`s a airbus country, sabena was a big operator of the busses, and sn techniks has a world fame about maintance from the busses ( also from the boeings )

But all the charter airlines ( Sobelair, CityBird, Air belgium etc.. ) use Boeing a/c.... Don`t understand me wrong... i dont mean that airbus is a wrong a/c, or boeing is a wrong a/c i amneutral in that because i love both...

But f you look to Holland, it`s a only boeing country ( exept some a320, and the klm a330 will join the fleet in april 2005 )

Sow my question is, why sabena and sn brussels airlines, are airbus costumers, and citybird, virgin, sobelair, air belgium, constellation are/were boeing costumers?

Maby Bart "luchtzak "can explane me that

Realy Kind Regards,

It all comes down to money, since there are a lot of relatively cheap, older boeings available, but not much airbusses. You logicaly start off with some old B737's, and maybe you can add some new 737's when you expand. Since charter companies don't exactly have to much cash, it's the cheapest one they fly...

Since SABENA didn't care about cost of aircraft, they bought airbus (it killed them though  )
(not to say airbus is more expencive or a bad aircraft, I love them!)

Hi Everyone,

Yesterday TUI Belgium told there staff that effective June 04 a B767 would be introduced, it should enter service Jul 1st. I am not sure if they also told the staff, but they will also lease in 3 B737 (not sure -400 or -800) from Futura for the summer peaks as well, seems they are getting bigger and bigger,

TUI Airlines Belgium

Has now confirmed the composition of its short/medium haul fleet which will be 2 Boeing 737-800s and 3 Boeing 737-400s. Operations are due to start at the end of the month. The airline also plans to lease 3 Boeing 737s from Futura for the busy summer months.
In addition TUI Belgium announced it has decided to operate long haul services as well and will acquire a Boeing 767-300 for this. The aircraft will begin operations on 01Jul04.

@ sabena4erver

Actually TUI's fleet contains 5 737s and 1 767. Only for the busy summer season they will lease 3 extra Futura 737 aircrafts.

Read in some newspapers that they have "an eye" on one of the SLR B767's.

Then I hope they have a good "budget"... :!: I don't think that those aircrafts are cheap... :? Also a "bedenking": is one B763 not enough to start with??

AS I remeber Constellation used 3 A320's and Air belgium 2 A 320's. Also Citybird used two A306F for its freight operations!

It's very good news and, if their fleet is similar to what SLR's used to be, hopefully they'll give a job back to many of their employees...
So with TUI and Exel, they might all have a job back :-)

The first think to know is that SN Technics, always was in favor and I think still is in favor of Boeing planes. Sabena always had a majority of Boeing's.
But when Swissair came, they obliged SN to buy Airbus planes.
When SNBA came and needed some bigger planes, they probably took the A319, because they were still waiting for a new customer, allready had a very nice interior and were very young !!

It's the one they are searching for, not a second one.
Also nice to know is that flights to Turkey will be operated (again) by a MNG Airlines plane, this time a B737-400 will wear "full" Tui colours, so sadly not the A300 anymore  .

Likely to be an LTU A330-200 or -300.
