First arrival of a Jetairfly E190 (OO-JEM) at ANR. From April 2015, this will become a common view.

In the trivia topic, somebody posted a few links to more background information and a press article about this event.
I had never heard if it before, but it seems a very good initiative, and it's nice to see our local airlines participate in it.
It's one of those little things which make the difference between a real Belgian company, and one which pretends to be.

Hello

Like ? Thomas Cook/TNT ?
If I was you I would not try to land an A319 or A320 of TCAB at ANR due to the RWY length and what about TNT would you let this kids sitting on the cargo floor of a BAe or B737 ?

Indeed.
No idea if an A319 could land and take-off at Antwerp for a short flight of just half an hour?
This kind of initiative could maybe be doubled in BRU? Yet it seems like it is something local in Antwerp though?

Hello

Yes, to grow, they definitely need to go to BRU.
But think about this, The EMB of JAF was in ANR for 2-3 hours something like that and didn't do any commercial flight before or after these round flights , which means that the A/C was available and didn't had any charter flights planned or maintenance. So is the JAF fleet becoming too big for a small country like Belgium? Because I think you earn more money with a tourist fligth than with days like that. Ok i know publicity and bla bla but they already had all the publicity with the 787.

The same can be said about Brussels airlines and VLM too then.
It's a choice made by their management to participate in something for the good, rather than just for the profit and personally, I find it heartwarming to see this kind of things still happen.
Kudos to Jetair, Brussels Airlines, VLM and BAF.

For JAF I think it's low season for the moment: no school holidays, no weekend. Probably they wouldn't participate if it would be July 8th or something.

Cheers,

Hello

Just thinking of something who was organising and operating most of the ''Dream flights'' (certainly in 2008 & 2012) Indeed Thomas Cook!
So I just think that every Belgian airliner (except TNT) is working hard for things like this and no bad word about TNT of course because they don't have any pax aircraft so you can't blame them.

Btw after the ANR flights, OODWI left from BRU to BMA.

He is off course talking about Ryanair
Sorry to burst your bubble Inquirer, but Ryanair has been doing this for years allready out of CRL in cooperation with BSCA.

TNT have organised sightseeing flights over Belgium for Télévie (2009) when they had the passenger aircraft available. Don't forget TNT is a worldwide player and helps worldwide by being part of the WFP.

Even though it never hit the news, TNT deployed quite some aircraft to provide logistical aid after nature disasters all around the world in the past 10 years.

Jetairfly : owned by TUI AG (Hannover)
Thomas Cook Airlines : owned by the Thomas Cook group (Great-Britain)
VLM : owned by Intro Aviation (Germany)
Brussels Airlines : for all intent and purpose a subsidiary of Lufthansa

Real Belgian companies, are they ?
IF IT AIN'T BOEING, I'M NOT GOING.
