When I fly I love it when there is a meal included in the price, especially if its a warm one. But I was wondering what do the specialist of luchtzak think about it?

I voted for "just a sandwich" because the flights I make now are short haul ones and that is what is served. Also, the sandwiches I have had on both Sabena and VLM have always been nicer than many of the hot meals I've had on longer flights! The worst sandwiches I've had were on Air France - cheese and ham on a baguette, which sounds very nice but the cheese was all dried up round the edges.

The best hot meals I've had on longer flights have always been the breakfasts, always containing things I like such as omlette, scrambled egg, sausage, diced potatoes, hash browns and yoghurts.

Well sab319,

I believe it all depends on:
- the time of the day,
- the length of the flight,
- whether you fly business-class or economy-class,
- whether you fly a full-service-carrier or a low-cost-carrier,
- what your budget is to spend.

You took the words out of my keyboard.

I cannot answer the poll for the reasons that Bart stated.

If I fly low cost, I don't expect a meal or even a drink. If I fly a full service airline, I expect a meal, whatever the length of the flight, so that I don't have to eat again once I arrive at destination. If I fly business class, I expect that meal to be hot and accompanied by free alcoholic drinks.

If I fly long haul, I also expect a hot meal and one alcoholic drink, also in economy or in a charter.

That is why I don't like LX or OS anymore. They forgot the basics of a full service airline meal.

It`s make me mad that every man on this earth thinks that on lowcost flights you can`t eat meals... wel thats not true.

I work for a low-budget airliner ( ahum... i am a trainee ) and @ al our flights meals are aviable. And you can choose between several meals. And ( i know... a lot off Ands

) this meals come from a well know airline catering company, so.....==> good quality.

If easyjet or ryanair had bad meals, i don`t mean that every airliner has bad meals, only you have to pay for. well, a cappuccino costs 1.00 earo, sow that`s not expensive,

It depands on the time of day..
However a warm english breakfeast is always very welcome with me.
On long haul a good warm meal or a cold meal such as the sushi JAL serves.... Believe me, with the teriyaki i had.... hmmmm... the best meal in the skies!

On short flights one does not really need a meal, but nevertheless it is nice to receive a little something. Nibbling on a flight is a nice way to keep yourself busy, especially when its dark or too cloudy to see any of the scenery...

I find it very sad that LX and apparently OS are stopping free inflight catering. Especially for LX, which when it was still Crossair had one of the best inflight services!

On a lowcost flight, I do not expect any free catering ... and I often buy a drink or a sandwich provided its not too expensive.

The very best though I had in Europe was Lauda Air on BRU-VIE (a full three dinner course with a hot main dish !) and very friendly service, chinaware and cutlery (it was before 9/11).

This summer I shall fly with Thomas Cook airlines to Heraklion, any experience anyone on the meals ?
