Don't know if it was already reported but for the first time ever I hear a radio commercial for Ryanair
It was yesterday around 1700 on StuBru.
Was very amazed by it cause it's the first time I see/hear a commercial for Ryanair outside of airports.

Ryanair close to placing new $10 billion Boeing order
Ryanair is in advanced talks to buy around 100 of a high-density version of Boeing's 737 MAX jetliner in a potential $10 billion deal that could be finalised as early as the middle of September.
The move comes two months after Boeing said it was studying plans to offer more seating in its upcoming 737 MAX by introducing a modified version with 200 seats, 11 more than the current maximum.
Both Airbus and Boeing are adding seats to drive down the operating costs per seat, the key driver of aircraft economics. In June, Airbus said it would increase the maximum number of seats on its revamped A320neo to 189, matching the capacity limit on the main variant of the Boeing 737 MAX and providing fuel savings of 3.5 percent per seat. Weeks later, Boeing leapfrogged its European rival by announcing plans to offer a 200-seat version of the 737-8 MAX, which Boeing Commercial Airplanes Chief Executive Ray Conner said would offer unspecified cost savings of 5 percent per seat.

Ryanair has sold 2,500 "business plus" bookings per day in the first week of it being launched.
Speaking on RTÉ's The Business, Ryanair's CEO Michael O'Leary said that business class has disappeared on short haul flights. But he said people want to get through the airport quickly, get to their meetings and then get home.

But how are they going to squeeze 199 seats (for 200 they need one more expensive flight attendant) in a frame that's not bigger than the current 737-800? Ooch! my knees!

Re: Ryanair in 2014
No if they put 201 seat they will need a 5th ccm, for 200 pax, 4 ccm is enough
Re: Ryanair in 2014
sn26567, If we do simple math, Ryanair has 31 rows of 6 seats and one additional row of 3 seats.
The average pitch is 31". To add a row of 6, you take 1" from the 31 rows. This will probably mean that the MAX will be equipped with slimmer seatbacks to make up for that inch. It can work if they do it right, but I hope that it doesn't compromise the comfort like on the LH NEK.
Then they'll probably add 3 seats in lieue of the galley/bulkhead that you have on the first starboard row. That makes 198 seats.
I'm not sure that they have to add any emergency exits, as long as they aircraft can be evacuated within 90 seconds.

The 200 seat version of the Max8 will have an additional emergency exit aft of the wing just like some of the -900's have now

Re: Ryanair in 2014
Ryanair today (8th Sept) signed an agreement with Boeing to purchase up to 200 new Boeing 737 MAX 200 “gamechanger” aircraft (100 firm & 100 options). When finalised and all options exercised, this deal will be worth over $22bn at current list prices. Ryanair becomes the lead customer for this new aircraft which for Ryanair will feature 197 seats (8 more than Ryanair’s existing 737-800s) and new CFM LEAP-1B engines, which combined with aerodynamic improvements will reduce fuel consumption by up to 18% in Ryanair’s configuration and reduce operational noise emissions by 40%. This will further reduce Ryanair’s industry leading low costs, and these savings will be passed on via lower fares to Ryanair’s customers, which will now grow from 82m in 2014 to over 150m customers p.a. by the end of the delivery stream in FY2024.

Boeing Launches 737 MAX 200 with Ryanair
- European low-cost carrier commits to order 100 airplanes, becomes launch customer of newest 737 MAX family member
- 737 MAX 200 provides 11 additional seats of potential revenue, up to 20 percent lower fuel use
NEW YORK, Sept. 8, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Boeing (NYSE: BA) launched the newest member of the 737 MAX family today with a commitment from Ryanair for 100 airplanes. Europe's leading low-cost carrier will be the first airline to operate the 737 MAX 200, a variant based on the successful 737 MAX 8 that can accommodate up to 200 seats, increasing revenue potential and providing customers up to 20 percent better fuel efficiency per seat than today's most efficient single-aisle airplanes.
In addition to the commitment, valued at $11 billion at current list prices, Ryanair has options to purchase another 100 737 MAX 200s.
"Ryanair is proud and honored to become the lead operator of Boeing's 'gamechanger' 737 MAX 200, which will expand our fleet to 520 aircraft by 2024 and create another 3,000 new jobs for pilots, cabin crew and engineers in Europe, while allowing us to grow traffic from 82 million last year to over 150 million annually by 2024," said Ryanair CEO Michael O'Leary.
"These new "gamechanger" aircraft will allow Ryanair to lower our costs and airfares, while improving our customer experience with more leg room and the Boeing Sky Interior, as we roll out new offers, particularly for our Business Plus and Family Extra customers. As many of Europe's flag carriers cut capacity on short haul routes, Ryanair looks forward to using these new Boeing 737 MAX 200s to grow at many more of Europe's primary airports," said O'Leary
Boeing developed the 737 MAX 200 in response to the needs of the fast growing low-cost sector, which is forecasted to account for 35 percent of single-aisle airline capacity by 2033. While the heart of the single-aisle market will remain at 160 seats, the 737 MAX 200 will provide carriers like Ryanair with up to 11 more seats of potential revenue and up to 5 percent lower operating costs than the 737 MAX 8, driving economic growth and increasing access to air travel.
With the addition of the 737 MAX 200, the 737 MAX family offers the right capacity to meet the needs across the single-aisle market.
"The 737 MAX 200 is the perfect fit for Ryanair, providing improved efficiencies, 20 percent lower emissions, increased revenues and a high level of passenger comfort," said Boeing Commercial Airplanes President and CEO Ray Conner. "The new variant will play a significant role in enabling the airline to continue to expand its operations, while providing passengers across Europe with outstanding value. For everyone at Boeing, it is an honor to launch the 737 MAX 200 with Ryanair, one of the world's most successful all-Boeing operators."
Based on the 737 MAX 8 airframe, the 737 MAX 200 can accommodate up to 200 seats by incorporating a mid-exit door increasing the exit limit. The airframe is 2.2 meters longer than the A320neo, giving customers more flexibility and space in the cabin, and offering a better solution at both the heart of the single-aisle market (160 seats) and at maximum passenger configurations.
Standard across the 737 MAX family, Ryanair's 737 MAX 200s will be configured with the passenger inspired Boeing Sky Interior, featuring modern sculpted sidewalls and window reveals, LED lighting that enhances the sense of spaciousness and larger pivoting overhead stowage bins.

See the two press releases (Boeing and Ryanair) with 3 pictures: viewtopic.php?p=305004#p305004
And an additional picture after the signature showing O'Leary (without tie) and Conner:

Ryanair chief executive Michael O'Leary today promised passengers more legroom and "slimline seats" as the airline ordered 100 of Boeing's new 737 Max 200 aircraft.
The same "slimline seats" as SN, which many Ryanair supporters are despising?
The budget carrier plans to configure each of the aircraft with 197 slimline seats with an average legroom of "over 30 inches".
Is that 30.1 inches? Not very generous. According to the site Seat Plans, Ryanair's current seat pitch is 29.9 inches. And what about the "business" seats of 32 inches in the present configuration? It is illusory to think that you can fit 197 in the same space as the current 189 seats without sacrificing "comfort".

Re: Ryanair in 2014
"I feel like a child who's woken up on Christmas morning unwrapping his presents and finding that Santa Claus has given him exactly what he asked for," O'Leary said at Monday's announcement in New York.
O'Leary said the extra eight seats would generate about 1 million euros of additional revenue per plane per year, most of which will go to the bottom line.
Ryanair expects delivery of the first airplane in this series in 2019. O'Leary will be in Renton Tuesday to take delivery of his first 737NG.
“As many of Europe’s flag carriers cut capacity on short haul routes, Ryanair looks forward to using these new Boeing 737 MAX 200 aircraft to grow at many more of Europe’s primary airports.”
We'll be sure to see some of them (NG and then MAX) at Brussels airport, let's hope in order to expand the choice of destinations.

To reply to some comments about the pitch:
30 inches isn't much, but if people accept it on Lufthansa, then they will also accept it on Ryanair.
The LH group has pioneered this downgrade in cabin comfort, so we should thank them for that.
Even FR had more pitch and better seats!
I just hope that Boeing/FR take great care of the seat's comfort, especially the cushion and lower seatback and not make the mistake that LH did. Yes, LH truly set a new "benchmark" in this category:

They only had 2 pillows on the whole aircraft, so I pitied anyone else who would need them. Oh yeah, the pillows are thin in any case. But Jesus Christus, what kind of airline should have a seat that when you knock-it makes a sound like a bl**dy school chair, PLASTIC and hard. Try knocking it, it sounds like you're knocking on a door! A comedian could have fun with NEK.
I want a CUSHIONED seat not a plastic school chair or a park bench.
