Ryanair in 2014

Re: Ryanair in 2014
As pointed out in another thread, you've skipped the notion that ryanair advertises ONE WAY fares, whereas the tickets from Brussels Air is a RETURN ticket, so the total starting prices are awfully close indeed, to the cent almost at first sight, which I find amazing indeed!
Re: Ryanair in 2014
euhm no .... this is a competing product to SN's flex&fast not check&go or light&relax
Thus the price difference is enormous.
Thus the price difference is enormous.
Re: Ryanair in 2014
Excuse me, but you are nowhere near anything like fast&flex: for instance, there's no refund possibliity. (it's the very first paragraph of the terms and conditions, which isn't exactly very reassuring to start with!)sean1982 wrote:euhm no .... this is a competing product to SN's flex&fast not check&go or light&relax
And what about a fast check-in counter for that luggage which you automatically have to pay for?
Besides, I don't get the point of the need to automatically pay for luggage too when I want flexibility?
Just when the other airlines are discovering corporate travellers don't very often travel with luggage and are adapting their product to this new reality, ryanair comes out with a combo deal which forces us to pay for something we don't use, just because we happen to like to change flight at some point after booking??? Weird, to say the least.
Don't get me wrong, I don't want to be seen as pissing on this new product, because I am sure it's a big leap for ryanair, it's only just a small step for the business community and I am not even sure in which direction: seems like you go 1 step forward AND 1 step backwards at the same time.
PS: I see there's no fast lane access at BRU either? Much to do about nothing, IMHO: you guys are just selling a ticket with bags included, combined with the promise we can change it to another flight, but then your flights are always packed and nowhere do I read that a seat will be made available for me?
Re: Ryanair in 2014
I wouldn't call 30" premium seating and the very few seats that have 32" couldn't be called premium either IMHO...sean1982 wrote: and premium seating with extra leg room
"Its chief marketing officer, Kenny Jacobs, said more than a quarter of Ryanair customers were already travelling on business. He said that the new tickets would not see larger business seats or extra facilities for the 45 premium seats, bar perhaps USB chargers on new planes when they are delivered"
So actually they'll sell a regular eco-light product (iso eco-ultralight) and slap the business title on it...
Re: Ryanair in 2014
Does this mean that the other passengers will have even less leg room? Or is Ryanair going to decrease the number of seats per plane from the actual 189?sean1982 wrote:premium seating with extra leg room

It probably means a seat in first row or overwings. No changes to the seats itself.
Re: Ryanair in 2014
Hence, three rows or 18 passengers. Where will the 19th business passenger be seated?epsilon wrote:It probably means a seat in first row or overwings. No changes to the seats itself.

Ryanair is due to receive next month, straight from the factory, the first aircraft of its latest order (175 737-800 - 75 of them as replacement, 100 as addition to the fleet)

But while Ryanair will offer 'premium' seating to business fare passengers, there are only 45 seats on each aircraft that fit Ryanair's description of premium - seats which offer more leg room or a quick exit from the aircraft.
Mr Jacobs conceded that on some routes at certain times, such as Monday morning from Dublin to Brussels Zaventem or London Stansted, premium seats won't be available for every business fare passenger who's entitled to one.
He said if business fare demand increases on routes such that the lack of such seats becomes an issue, then frequencies could be added.
But he added that altering the internal seating structure of an aircraft to add more premium seats could be considered in situations where there is intense demand for business fares.

Premium seating : how many rows (how many seats) will be available for premium seating ? What is their seat pitch and what is the standard FR seat pitch and width of seats ?

Re: Ryanair in 2014
It would be more accurate to call it Business Minus, but FR is not used to call a spade a spade and is used to calling Hahn > Frankfurt, Skvasta > Stockholm, Charleroi > Brussels South etc... and uses names which don't match their designations. Nothing new. As long as customers are ready to fall into the trap...sean1982 wrote: FR has launched our business plus pack!

Ryanair confirms bid for Cyprus Airways
Ryanair’s chief marketing officer Kenny Jacobs has confirmed on BBC Radio 5 Live that it will bid to takeover Cyprus Airways in time for the bid deadline on Friday.
Ryanair’s CEO Michael O’Leary had already confirmed he was travelling to the Cypriot government to discuss the possibility of buying the airline.
There is expected to be around 15 different bids for Cyprus Airways and an announcement will be made in October.
As part of the deal Cyprus Airways would retain its brand and operate under a separate air operator’s certificate to Ryanair.

And btw, you did not have the courtesy to answer my question about seat pitch and premium seating on FR.
Since you know everything about FR, I expected an answer. I'm very disappointed.

Re: Ryanair in 2014
Some good prices are to be found at the moment on Ryanair : got a Zaventem-Fiumicino day return mid-december for 46,90 euros.
On that week, Brussels Airlines offers a few 78,72 euros return, but one has to stay 3 days - day returns are priced at 446,17 euros (no kidding).
