Egyptair

Post by Stij »

Good afternoon,

next week I fly to Cairo to attend a wedding of a good old friend.
I'm flying Egyptair from Brussels to Caïro and back.
Has anybody recent experiences with them? I only found André's report from 4 years ago on our forum...

Kind regards,

Stij

My wife went with Egyptair to Sharm el Sheikh via Cairo 10 days ago. Jetairfly and Thomas Cook still do not fly to SSH, hence there was no other reasonable choice (except with TK and long wait at IST, or Russian airlines via Moscow).

She told me over the phone that the flights (A320 + B738) were OK, albeit late (55 min and 35 min respectively). Free hot meal on board (without alcohol), M&M miles, codeshare with SN.

She will come back on Sunday with hopefully fresh information about her flights...

Being a member of the Star Alliance imposes some quality standards.

I flew a couple o times with them if you have a737 800 it's good but with a A320 it's very bad .
The windows are full of humidity you can barely see something ( same thing than in the A330 of SN)and those planes are dirty.
Hasta la victoria siempre.

Hi André and Lumumba,

Mmmm, I should fly an A321 and an A320...

I'll post a trip report when I'm back!

Cheers,

Stij

Incidentally, I am still looking for the registration of the B738 that operated flight MS22 (CAI-SSH 22:30-23:30) on Sunday,11 May 2014. Thanks!

Egyptair is operating some A340-200 flights to KWI for example.

Hi Stij,

I flew Egyptair last September to ADD. All 4 flights were performed with a B737.

Personally I think it is an OK airline for a 4-5 hours flight. Legroom is sufficient in economy, food is OK without being superb by any means. The Y cabin however feels a bit cramped in case of a full house, especially since the C-class cabin is rather big in my opinion (and almost no-one was sitting there).

I was really missing decent inflight entertainment in Y, for instance a flight map. It was only available in C.

You can upgrade to C-class at the airport for (at that time) a fixed rate of 120€ each.
