When in doubt, hold on to your altitude. No-one has ever collided with the sky.
Re: Brucargo: cargo routes, news, Brucargo West, Diabolo.
Indeed great news but full freighters are still doing bad in BRU. Less 10% and at market freight fares to cry ex-BRU.woutertheboy wrote:Great news!Squelsh wrote:8APR14 SV923/SV924 HZ-AI3 B748F RUH-BRU-RUH

Actually KE has been flying through BRU only once a week for quite a while now. Last Wednesday that single flight did not operate even.Established02 wrote:Yes, they are. 2-3 times a week, usually with 77F.BRUpilot wrote:Is Korean Air Cargo still active on brussels?
One could wonder about the sustainability of these "hundreds of extra jobs" that KE was expected to create 3 years ago.

After being a finalist for the last 2 years, Brussels Airport on Wednesday won the Airport of the Year 2014 cargo award during a ceremony held at the Air China Cargo exhibition in Shanghai. Other finalist were Seoul, Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Criteria used are commitment to cargo, available facilities and operational efficiency. Must mean some good things are happening and that all investments made start to pay off...

Juste one question : 650,000 T/year . When was last time BRU hit that figure. Or is it window dressing ?

The last year they exceeded that nummer with actual flown cargo was in 2008. But I wonder, did they include trucked cargo? As BRUcargo is more than just a place where cargo gets on and off aicraft, it's also a hub for cargo that's only trucked around Europe (though I could not place a number on that, so that's why I ask this question).liege-bierset wrote: Juste one question : 650,000 T/year . They are probably lucky that Swissport Belgium is just a small division of themsn26567 wrote: Air Cargo Handling Agent of the Year 2014: Swissport !

You can also wonder how much of that is dhl, which actually has nothing to do with brucargo at all...
(if that is included , I'm not 100% sure)
On the bru airport website you can clearly see that +- 20% is trucked.

Re: Brucargo: cargo routes, news, Brucargo West, Diabolo.
650.000 ton is volume of cargo originating or final destination BRU: 420.000 flown, rest trucked to or from other gateways. Says something about the importance of BRUcargo when it comes to logistics.
DHL is indeed growing, but would be wrong to say this has nothing to do with BRUcargo !! You would be surprised how much general cargo or perishables are flown on their aircraft.

OK. Thanks, it is clearer now. If all logistics flow around Brucargo are included, figures are more credible.BRU wrote:650.000 ton is volume of cargo originating or final destination BRU: 420.000 flown, rest trucked to or from other gateways. KE cargo station BRU will go offline till september -at the earliest-. Gossip goes they will stay offline in the future, only trucking.Established02 wrote:Actually KE has been flying through BRU only once a week for quite a while now. Concerning the World Air Cargo Awards; all brucargo staff I talked to find it the biggest joke of the year. Heard the reference '1st of april' multiple times.
Nice try to keep up the good-news-show, guess al those (IMO useless) BAC brucargo managers need to stay occupied and keep up appearances

Strange... Hear the opposite. Most people are very positive about it. Didn't hear one negative comment about it. Anyway, typical Belgium. If this happen in the Netherlands, the whole world will know it. It is like soccer: if we win, we complain about the quality of the game. If we play good, we are not happy with the result. Think it is a very good signal for BRUcargo that BAC really tries to do it different and that they give a lot of attention to cargo.

I don't know who you are talking to, but it seems hard to believe it are the workers on tarmac or in the warehouses.BRU wrote: Strange... Hear the opposite. Most people are very positive about it. If BRU IS THE BEST cargo airport in the world, than how come there are less full freighters???
If the answer is 'too expensive' it is just once more the prove that quality is not valued any more. Than what do you gain by being the best?????

KE is indeed temporarily stopping their B777F to BRU, but I heard they will be returning with B74F as from October.

Re: Brucargo: cargo routes, news, Brucargo West, Diabolo.
Correct. But cargo is more than just freight loaded in full cargo aircraft. Total volumes are growing, freight forwarders are again investing, new buildings are constructed, several projects are ongoing, ... And I am sure that in the longer run also volumes on full freighters will grow again if this continious. Will need some time, especially since the decline in freighter traffic is a world wide fact.flightlover wrote:I don't know who you are talking to, but it seems hard to believe it are the workers on tarmac or in the warehouses.BRU wrote: Strange...
