Well It´s just that as many Belgian, I like my national airline and I'm simply scared of more competitor coming, after Ryanair and Vueling increase the competition on the European sector, Turkish Airlines on the African sector, and now Smartlynx on the charter sector?! But anyway, will see next year what's happening ;)

I understand you very well, but competition is part of life these days, so you may be vigilant, but not scared of it as you just you can't avoid it, even though some here think you can, if only you do this and that and such and so.

I wonder how long Thomas Cook will be around when Corendon starts penetratying the Belgian market. They've lost considerable market share in the Dutch market to Corendon and I've no doubt that they'll be having a tough time competing with Corendon in the Belgian market.

BTW Corendon airlines I wonder if they're also going to enter the flight only market (what they did in the Dutch market).

It's not like Corendon hasn't been active on the Belgian market in the past years, on the contrary. Besides the Netherlands, Belgium is their second 'home market' with a local division. And Corendon Airlines has been operating tons of flights to/from Brussels for years already.

So actually I don't understand much of the fuzz because they are hiring 15 cabin crew members which will be based in Brussels. Yes they are expanding, but so are the other touroperators and their related airlines.

There were indeed some flights from corendon airlines in BRU alreaydy, but never Corendon based an aircraft here. The fact that they hire some crew fluent in french/dutch/english shows that they plan to enter the Belgian market more deeply than what they used to do in the past.

They never based an aircraft overhere indeed, but they did dedicate certain aircraft to BRU operations only in past summers. What they do now is hiring local crew. As most of their clients are sourced from the Belgian division of Corendon, it's a quite normal choice to have Belgian cabin crew as well instead of mainly Turkish crew. With such relative large operations to/from BRU, it does make sense to have a local crew base.

They are expanding in Belgium yes, but that's life, that's aviation, that's the tourism sector. The Belgian holiday market is growing, so it's normal that Corendon as one of the medium sized players on the market wants to get its share and even try to expand that.

Isn't Thomas cook's reputation much better than Corendon's? I remember that every year they have serious problems with executing their flights on time sometimes with even more than 24hr delays. That's the last I want to worry about when going holiday :?
