Parked A310's at BRU

Post by flieger »

Hi,
Returning yesterday, I saw that the 2 ex BAF A310's and the one ex Austrian A310 were parked near the Jetairfly building, behind the Brussels Airlines HQ.
Presumably, they have been towed to this position?
Anyone has any news on their fate?
I know they were sold already quite some time ago to be parted out and broken up for scrap later if I'm not mistaking.
However, nothing happened so far.
I can understand they were not parked in the most convenient spot and were may'be obstructing where they were and therefore have now been moved.
But, will they now finally be broken up or???
I don't understand why this hasn't happened so far. Parking these birds isn't free of charge either...?!

It's strange because the former MAP Jet (ex-Austrian) always stood at the end of the former Sabena Technics building... (for years)

Yesterday afternoon they where being towed back to their 'normal' parking spot. They had to make way for the aviation day indeed.

Hi all,
thanks for the update AND that magnificent picture.
Wow...I am so surprised to see nothing seems to have been done so far in respect of parting out.
Even the engines still sit in their cowlings, even without any covers.
Will be nice cleaning out bird's nests... :?

Indeed, they have been parked on Inner 1 to make room for Luchtvaartdag, and that's why they have towed back to their initial position on Sunday.

Why aren't they being scrapped? It's almost sure they'll never fly again.
