A man was arrested at Glasgow Airport after allegedly claiming he had a bomb in his luggage, as he was about to set off on a skiing trip.
The 22-year-old Scot, who has not been named, allegedly made the comment shortly before he was due to get on board a chartered flight to Geneva, Switzerland.
The incident at Glasgow Airport is the third in recent weeks involving British flight passengers. Last month student Samantha Marson, 21, from Shropshire, was arrested in Miami after joking she had a bomb in her rucksack as she waited to board a flight to London. And a week later Lesley Brennan, 48, was charged with "communicating false information" after apparently telling check-in staff at Newcastle Airport she had a bomb in her luggage.

Since all the security checks have been re-enforced over the world, people have to wait longer to go through security. The longer gueues will make more people angry, and those people will then more easily tell such things like "Oh, of course I have a bomb, what do you think !!!" being ironic of course. That's what, I think, explains the recent increase in such false alarms
For sure it's not the time for telling such things, and epsecially not at airports, where you have to think twice before telling something.

Nearly had problems when flying out from Gatwick.
I flew out from Gatwick to Rome last summer. After going through the security check a security person asked me to come to the side for a random routine check of my handbag.
I was with a friend at the time and the security person, just went through my handbag and used a special 'tool' to gather a sample for drugs/explosives. My friend asked the guy what this was to detect, I said "semtex explosives". The security person got really angry at me and warned me that I could have been in trouble/refused to board on the flight.
It's not like I shouted "semtex explosives" out loud so that everyone nearby could have panicked or got scared. I just said it directed at my friend in a low voice!
So, the moral is you better shut up when dealing with airport security or staff and better not joke about things. Had a good flight to Rome in the end on an Alitalia MD 80.

Reminds me of that woman, few years ago, who left a large sign on the dashboard of her car with the word "BOMBE" in big red letters...
She'd left her car in a busy street and, after a few minutes, somebody spotted the note. Police, fire dept and explosive specialists got there whithin moments and the road was closed and evacuated.
Eventually, the woman came back to her car before any attempt was made to blow it.
Of course, there was no bomb in the car. The womans daughter was a horse rider, and the note "BOMBE" was only there to remind her about some helmet she had to collect in a shop that afternoon.
"Bombe" is what you call a riding helmet in french...
