Taken today as i only got about 1 hour of spotting before the cloud come in(BBC Weather ).

Both taken at 1st light -08.00----

I'm gonna buy DSLR and skywatcher, finally! ) But...

1) is it big diference between 8" with f/6 and 10" with f/4.7 ? If you are using 10" so you can use faster exposure time, but how much? 1/800 or faster?

2) Barlow 2x (televue) doing multiply shutter? 8" 1200mm f/6 => 2400mm f/12 ? And after how much is optimal exposure time?

3) And your opinion - Canon 1100d (Rebel T3) ought to be enough?

Welcome to the club

1) There's a formula for this: (6*6)/(4.7*4.7)=1.63 times slower. So a shutter speed of 1/800@F/4.7 requires a shutter speed of 1/500@F/6.
2) Yes, 1200mm becomes 2400mm but F will be halved, so F/6 becomes F/12.
There's a rule of thumb about the exposure time. When taking pictures at X mm, you need at least a shutter speed of 1/X s. However, when taking pictures at 2400mm I aim for 1/1000 - 1/1250 s. I play with the sensor sensitivity (ISO) to meet this.
3) To my opinion this camera is perfect for contrailspotting and other stuff of course
