It will make passengers to Asia and Africa connect in DXB iso AMS, FRA, CDG, LHR...
Also TG will loose some pax on BKK and BruAir will loose some African pax due to more frequencies, lower price...
As with FR in BRU: the battle has just begun and there will be blood in skies, probably sooner than later.

Is it me, or does EK immediately starting up DXB flights with 77W suddenly make it a whole lot more plausible that in a few years we'll see daily A380 operations at BRU?

Just saying...

Step 1) Build 2 jetway gates, it is so annoying to board a 77W for example via a single jetway
When in doubt, hold on to your altitude. No-one has ever collided with the sky.

First of all, I don't think BAC would give Emirates the same kind of reply like they gave Ryanair.

Secondly, without a strong home carrier (SN) and alliance (Star) BRU would become even more dull then it already is today. Take away all Star Alliance pax and what will remain of BRU's pax numbers? If you take away a highly unreliable partner like Jet Airways, you'll lose even more passengers. So IMHO Brussels Airport has everything to gain from backing up SN and Star.

Jet Airways did it for a long time when they were still flying their 77W's to BRU.

The heat is on !
No official press release from Emirates (yet)

77W a lot off capacity but they can reduce this to 77L (like the ARN-DXB) service.
Bad news for 9W and TG but also for AF,KL,LX,LH,...) but great for BRUspotters.

Logical they start this service after runway repairs in DXB in may-jun14

Also a huge amount off cargo.

A380 it's likely to be an extra 777 or A350

May I remind everyone that a slot request is not a flight announcement? Seems some of you are already daydreaming of multiple daily A380's while not even a single flight is confirmed...

Also easyjet's Hamburg base seems to be up. No Brussels flights that people expected. Oh well.

For summer 2014 9W has still there slots for BRU.
On the BOM - BRU - EWR leg it would again be with the 77W, the other flights with A330-300

Was it a way to put pressure on Brussels Airport to get better conditions?

Me thinks that BRU did already a lot to accommodate Jet Airways in the best possible conditions.

According to La Libre Belgique, Emirates just got its slots for operating DXB-BRU as from mid-august 2014. Next step: traffic rights.

In the same article: Ryanair made a request for slots between 23:00 and 6:00, but given that all slots were already taken for this period of the day (maximum 16.000 flights yearly), it has been refused by BSC.
