BRU wrote:Because traffic rights are still used to protect: giving for example QR traffic rights to fly directly from Kenia to Amsterdam (withouth making a stop in Doha) will be direct competition to KLM/Martinair. And that might have a result on their revenues. Very few countries really have an open skies policy.
The latest rumours at AMS suggest that qr maxed out of their allowed frequencies under the Dutch - Qatar billateral. Moreover, the rumours suggest QR is making way so it can fly pax flights between AMS and DOH. Thus nothing to do with traffic rights between Kenya and The Netherlands afterall (it seems EY does have traffic rights between NBO and AMS).

Bad news for LGG cargo. Avient Cargo is bankrupt.

People working for the sales department in the UK are already fired. They flew with DC'10 from LGG.

It seems that these flight moved from AMS to LGG (and now with early morning slots). QR Cargo was supposed to start 3 weekly DOH-EBB-AMS-DOH as of June 2nd. However, only one DOH-AMS-DOH is now in the planning.

As I already said on an other forum: "This is a different soup but still same vegetables"
IMO, Not sure we like this kind of business @ LGG.

It's very positive for our Walloon airport for the moment, one new operator for each :-D

Maybe a good news but we can be very surprised CRL wasn't chosen.
Ok the location may be good, but CRL attracts much more attention nowadays
The only explanation I see was the lack of slots in CRL, or because it's full, or because they want to fly very early or very late.

Opening hours may be the factor but also available space and time in LGG is more than CRL...

Figari,Ajaccio and Bastia are three different markets as road connections are not so good in Corsica.

Figari is more 'upscale'.But if I'm not wrong also a lot of flights are available in the summer period from Lille to these three destinations?

Western, central and eastern Belgian areas will be served via either LIL/CRL/LGG.

LGG voted 'best cargo airport in the World' at Singapore «Payload Asia Awards» at FIATA world convention.

ATL and SIN were the other nominees.

Best cargo airport ?
Best potential they mean I guess ...
Because how can you judge first an airport that is losing tonage and can't attract any more clients ?

The flights will be seasonal, between April and September 2014. Initially two weekly flights, and in the high season 4 weekly flights..
