Your Favourite Music

Post by VC10 »

OK, this may or may not have been done before (has it?) but as well as beer (which I also like!), pubs also cater for music, so I'd like to know what sort of music you like.

Myself, I'm really a rock and pop person, favourites including the Beatles, Stones, ELO. Jimi Hendrix (when Comet is not in, she doesnt like him!!) plus Madonna also Motown, and others too numerous to mention. Most of these groups and artistes are of my era (but nothing said about my age!!)

Tell me your favourites.

I have pretty wide tastes in music really.

What I like: 80s music (better than the manufactured stuff of today, at least they wrote their own music and played their own instruments). Madonna (favourite songs "Like a Prayer", "Live to Tell", "Power of Goodbye" and "Frozen" because they have all been used as backing on my Belgium videos). Dido ("Life for Rent" is a superb album, as well as being good backing music for the holiday video I made in Ireland). My favourite song is "The Boxer" because that is the music I always use to back video footage of Sabena and SNBA. I like Gershwin, classics which have a bit of punch like "Land of Hope and Glory" and "Rule Britannia", the Planets is good. I like pretty much the same as VC10, without the Jimi Hendrix!

What I don't like: opera, slushy romantic smoochy rubbish (why they assume all women like that is beyond me!), jazz, rap, heavy classics which go on for hours and don't have much tune, Justin Timberlake and his bimbo ex girlfriend, Coldplay.
Sabena and Sobelair - gone but never forgotten.

The first record I ever bought was " She Loves You" by the Beatles. I developed through a "heavy" period with the likes of Cream (Eric Clapton), Hendrix Floyd etc, then discovered my now all-time favourite, Jackson Browne. I am currently absorbed by Rosie Thomas, Mary Gauthier, Lucinda Williams, Metallioca and Linkin Park.

PS didn't "The Darkness" do well at the Brits????

Meerkat - yes, the Darkness did well at the Brits, I didn't see it so i don't know what they won, but they did well.
Sabena and Sobelair - gone but never forgotten.

For the once that like 80's music.
Go to http://www.shoutcast.com and tune in at Club977.
This is a internet channel that plays only 80's music and really good 80's music.

You only need winamp to listen to it.
