Does someone know what kind of thing that is below the wing you see at the left side of the picture.

In my opinion, it's a fence :D :? I don't know sure, but it looks like a "prikkeldraad"?

Could be some barb wire indeed Jense.

This brings a second question up to my mind.
WHy does someone park a plane this close the bardwires?

That's the fence where you have to put your chain around so your plane will not be stolen :)
Since bicycles are not big enough anymore they like to steal triple 7's in Amsterdam :D

I guess it's an illusion... If you take a look closer, you may see it... It can be real "hé"... The men, or pilots, who parked the aircraft know how high that wing is... (I guess :D  :D )

well well... just have a close look at it... it is a cargo pallet to be loaded (offloaded) and a traffic sign.... as it is parked next to the staff parking lot...

I like the new KLM colors, and the new triple 7's look quiet good in that! But I find a pity KLM didn't chose the A330/A340.

Sab319,

KLM did choose the A330. THey will be delivered in a few years. I don't know the correct date, but I'm sure that all our members from our neighbour country know the answer ;)

The correct delivery date of the first A330-200 is april 2005, the second 330 during august 2005 and the tird 330 sept 2005.
The other 3 will be deliverd during 2006. So, only one year to go and klm has another type of aircraft!

Yes indeed, so that's why they have 777's too :!:
Seriuosly, I think the deals were made way earlier than the first "merger/buyout" talks.

Apart from the MD11 and the Fokkers, what planes does KLM have that AF does not have (and vice versa) :?:

KLM will take care of Boeing/Fokker maintenance and Air France will do the Airbus fleet. So the only part of KLM that will do good the coming 5 years is E&M (Enginering and maintenance).

From what I believe AF doesn't have the B738 & B739!

And than another thing, why Buying 777's and A332's, I think thats very strange. Wouldn't it be cheaper buying airbus of the same capacity in staed of the triple 7? I believe A A343 or A333 have the same capacity, and it would save a lot of training costs. But thats my humble opinion!

AF doesn't have any B737NG, KLM doesn't have any B747classics anymore :( , KLM doesn't have any A340's , AF doesn't have any B767 anymore. That's it I think :?

Do you really think that fleet commonality, would save that much money for so big companies, I don't think so.... BTW the A330 doesn't have the same capacity than the B777. :!:

It is there own mistake and also there payback for the way they work with their (ex) employees and how KLM management is taking decisions. I loved KLM but now I hope they will get payback time, it's what they deserve!
Everybody can see Air France is going to eat this little peace of swan meat within 5 years, except Mr. van Wijk and his team. His eyes will open when the french painters enter hangar 14 ;)
