Re: Which A330 next for Brussels Airlines?
What other company within the LH group is still adding A332's to their fleet these days? Only SN?

Airbus A330
Re: Which A330 next for Brussels Airlines?
Yes, only SN. LH & LX replaced all their 332s in favour of the 333.Conti764 wrote:What other company within the LH group is still adding A332's to their fleet these days? Only SN?
Re: Which A330 next for Brussels Airlines?
I hope they are anticipating 9W's departure out of BRU.
Radio galley goes that another A330 will be added pretty soon.

Re: Which A330 next for Brussels Airlines?
That's because these other airlines have other aircraft with a longer range and can thus maximize the range/payload sweet spot on the A333, while SN doesn't have that luxury.Airbus A330 wrote: Yes, only SN. LH & LX replaced all their 332s in favour of the 333.

2 new A330's for SN?
I wish for you that it's true, and I too would be excited, but let's face it, the trend of the past years does not seem to support this as a likely scenario.
If we look at the planespotters.net site, it's clear that LH Technik registered several aircraft that later went on to serve third party airlines.

Re: Which A330 next for Brussels Airlines?
Well,
IT IS TRUE!
Number is expected in januari 2014. Number 10 will be introduce before summer 2014.
No idea if it will be the ex-Kingfisher's. For Number 9 it could be possible, seen the delivery date is set tho 01/21014.
Number 10 for sure won't be, as the rumour is that he would be coming from Brasil (ex-TAM??)
Greetz,

Short of memory.??? SFY and SFZ both arrived in 2012!Flanker2 wrote:2 new A330's for SN?

IIRC, SFY arrived in october '11, SFZ in march '12. So not both in 2012, but indeed within six months from each other.OO-ITR wrote:Short of memory.??? SFY and SFZ both arrived in 2012!Flanker2 wrote:2 new A330's for SN?

Sorry for the nitpicking
Re: Which A330 next for Brussels Airlines?
If number 9 and number 10 are confirmed, it's good to see that LH/SN realize that adding only 1 A330 every year will lead them nowhere!
Re: Which A330 next for Brussels Airlines?
Is this news officially confirmed, or are people here just daydreaming?
And what's the plan? 1 plane for African expansion (e.g. early next year) and another one for a 3rd US destination (possibly starting in summer), or a very remote destination, requiring 2 planes to serve it daily?
A fleet of 10 x Airbus 330: do they even have enough gates for that at the end of the A terminal in BRU?

Re: Which A330 next for Brussels Airlines?
Two jets coming several months apart? It could also be the first one opens the route and the second one increases the frequency, let's say to some place like Tokyo, Los Angeles or San Francisco! Time will tell.
Re: Which A330 next for Brussels Airlines?
It is not officially confirmed, but I have it from a very good source. No daydreaming, trust me.
No idea for the destinations yet. But we will have a third destination in North America next year, and some new African destinations are on the map as well.
There is a rumor (and this is just a rumor!), that there is a plan to fill in the gap when 9W will leave BRU. Including one flight to India, and the other to N.A. Again this is just a rumor.
As for the space available at T-zone, two more gates are under construction. Stand 171 and 174 will be converted to full service gates. As a consequence Sunrise Lounge will be lifted up one level.
Greetz,

Re: Which A330 next for Brussels Airlines?
That last item I can confirm: Brussels has made two new concrete bases at the end of the terminal on which the bridges are normally resting, so it looks as if they will offer additional gates there indeed: does that bring the capacity to 10 gates then?Lamal wrote:It is not officially confirmed, but I have it from a very good source. Total gates available from T-zone will be 8: 161,165,169,171,164, 168, 170 and 174.
Re: Which A330 next for Brussels Airlines?
Hi Inquirer,
I don't think it is necessary to have ten gates available, even if there are 10 or even more planes.
Currently the flights are nicely spread over the day. One example from last Sunday: 8 SN planes were leaving BRU (I don't know the order of the triangular flights, so they might be wrong):
SN 501 BRU-JFK 10:25
SN 371 BRU-Yaounde-Douala 10:30
SN 357 BRU-FIH 10:40
SN 221 BRU-Monrovia-Banjul 10:45
SN 453 BRU-Bujumbura-Nairobi 10:50
SN 205 BRU-Dakar-Conakry 11:25
SN 251 BRU-Lomé-Abidjan 14:35
SN 515 BRU-IAD 16:45
Although it is not sure that this will happen, but they could schedule an additional flight to Africa around 14:30. Other North-American flights could be also in the late afternoon. They could go for a combination (it was said that log haul would grow up to 12 aircraft) ...
Just my two cents.
Kind regards,
Danny

Re: Which A330 next for Brussels Airlines?
One would have thought that with Jet moving its scisor hub (4 flights?) that you could imagine more than 1 airplane being added to take-over the market that Jet created or at least some of those flights. Taking over only one destination seems like a missed opportunity, but then again, perhaps reasonable growth is preferred to a gamble.
Re: Which A330 next for Brussels Airlines?
According to Skyliner, another Kingfisher A332 (this is now the third one: VT-VJK, O and P) was ferried to ZRH today under a LH Technik registration number prior to transfer to Malta. Two other former Kingfisher A332s are on order by Arik Air.
Re: Which A330 next for Brussels Airlines?
If I understand wel, two former Kingfisher A332 will go to Arik air, one Kingfisher A332 could go to SN and an other one could arrive from TAM ?
Re: Which A330 next for Brussels Airlines?
No, 2 others are going to Arik ex- VT-VJL (5N-JIC) and VT-VJN (5N-JID), Kingfisher had 5 of them (all 2008 build).nordikcam wrote:If I understand wel, two former Kingfisher A332 will go to Arik air, one Kingfisher A332 could go to SN and an other one could arrive from TAM ?
The 3 remaining are now registered to Lufthansa Technik but that doesn't mean that one of more will come to SN.
