LOT: Historic Boeing 767 to Dreamliners fleet replacement

Post by sn26567 »

The fifth Boeing 787 Dreamliner long-haul aircraft has been introduced today into the booking system of LOT Polish Airlines. This means that from August, 10 the Polish national carrier will offer long-distance flights on the Dreamliners only.

The fifth LOT's Boeing 787 (SP-LRE) is currently scheduled to fly in to Warsaw at the end of July. Following the today's introduction of this aircraft into the booking systems for the transatlantic routes, from August 10, the passengers will fly on long distances only with the world's most modern aircrafts.

This will be a symbolic turning point in the history of the Polish carrier when, after having served for 20 years in LOT Polish Airlines's fleet, the Boeings' 767 are replaced with the state-of-the-art Boeing 787 Dreamliners.

As enthusiastically LOT is about this, the overall future of the airline is quite insecure.
With so many regional and mid-range aircraft supposed to be sold off by LOT I have my doubts that LOT will be able to fill their B788's at WAW alone - and to make a profit from this operation.
OTOH trying to persuade passengers from other European countries to fly via WAW (as efficient as this airport is) only can be done via lower fares. And there the vicious circle starts again.

I think it is quite likely that LOT may offer some of their B788's during European winter for some other work.
