By the way, this is not the first 747-8F to land at BRU. There had been a Cargolux diversion during last winter. But this is the first scheduled one to land at BRU.

Hi
Some shots of the 'beast' of the week let's call it. By the way it's perfectly possible indeed that he might be a regular sooner then we would think
he didn't make the visit just for no reason, so far is sure...

My Cargo (by Magma) B747-400BCF TC-ACF

and there she is ... 'Saudi 9070'

and one more to end ... from Brucargo just minutes before I had to make a run for the inbound rainshower.

A question for specialists: how can you distinguish between a 747-400F and a 747-8F ? (apart from the 787-like engines in the latter).
I know that the 748 is longer than the 744, but that does not appear at first sight.

Winglets have a very distinguished form, just like the 787. (Well actually it's not really a winglet but rather the wing formed)sn26567 wrote:A question for specialists: how can you distinguish between a 747-400F and a 747-8F ? (apart from the 787-like engines in the latter).

Hi
Well indeed, that's why I added the pics of the My Cargo B747-400F as well, as comparision. As you will see as it comes to airframe (apart from the streched upper deck on the -400/400BCF series, the -8F has the upper deck of classic -200 series and the full freighter -400F (original)) and tailsection all is exactly the same. Nothing has changed there apart from a stronger floor and maybe some structural reïnforcements in the fuselage that are not visible from the exterior. Also the landing gear is the same (but of course stronger and more robust as the -8I/8F has a heavier weight). Only in wing design there is a significant difference, curvatures appear a bit different, most visible aspect of it is indeed the wingtip, they also appeared on the B777-200LR and current B777-300(ER) (not the earliest versions) and most recently, the B787, and will also be adopted on the B737-MAX. On the 777 series they are called 'raked wingtips' don't know if they have a different name on the B787 and B747-8. The wingspan on the B747-8 is as such a bit bigger just as the length. It might not seem that much of a difference on the picture but for sure, if you see one for real you will easily notice it's bigger then the earlier 747's. Just as it's sometimes it's hard to distinguis between the 737-800 and -900 series, but you can see it when you seem them for real, the -900 is simply really long! Same story for 747-8
.
As to what I've heard so far we might see them regular as from June somewhere so be prepared ...

Just to add to this:
The 737 MAX will not be getting the raked wingtips, but a newly designed scimitar wingtip.
The Saudia 748f will indeed be a regular from June on.
