Jetairfly has suspended Phuket and Bangkok flights

Post by Kabila »

I was surfing to the Jetairfly website tonight and just noticed that I couldn't book a flight to either Phuket or Bangkok anymore. Also on Brussels Airport website, there is no flight to Phuket/Bangkok this Saturday 27/04, the day Jetairfly usually has its flight to Thailand.

Have they pulled the route? I can't remember having read this anywhere, but I could have missed it of course.

Also on Jetair website (touroperator website), Thailand packages are no longer available.

Strange it went unnoticed...

Thailand is indeed no longer in the Jetairfly routes.

Better to make an agreement with TG , so they can increase frequency on their BRU-BKK flights.

For years no flights from BRU to Bangkok and then all of a sudden Jaf and Thai doing flights...think there is no market in Belgium to fill all the flights there are now every week...a pitty though. Some competition could benefit the pax and the prices maybe...
I think it's also hard to compete with the service of Thai, their network/alliance, frequent flyer miles, etc ...for the price of 3 dedicated stewardesses of Thai, Jaf can put 1 on board, etc

The way things are now, BKK is not coming back. New options are being explored, though.

So THAI drove JAF off the BKK route? That didn't take long...

In the light of the recent "JAF to FIH" topic and the different comments made in relation to their chances on high capacity routes, it might be interesting to read through the initial topic on Thai launching BRU and the consequences it would (not) have for the JAF flight according to many....

What I can say is that there was a flight scheduled for departure when I was there a month ago, but things may have changed since...

JAF partner on the route, BestTours, leftthe market. I think that's the major reason of the cancellation.

Actually, when JAF and BestTours started the route, Thai didn't announce the route yet. When they announced it, Best Tours knew they were in deep sh*t...

Thus a logic explanation and nothing to do with TG.. Moreover, if you look at other EU airlines (except for Norwegian), all are reducing capacity.

And do not forget that Best Tours stopped all activities in Belgium since the end of last year. Best Tours who was operating under Swiss Kuoni Group stopped selling packages since 13 November 2012.
So JAF lost a big client with it.

Meanwhile, the TG flights seem to be doing really well : TG 934 this morning had a 100% LF in economy (dixit my wife who was on the flight).

They have been doing quite good on all 3 flights with the 777-300ER. Had to be 4 flights with the 772 but they tried first with 3 days but an airplane upgrade.

Think we might see more frequencies next winter season (or at least hope) :)

Is Thomas Cook working together with TG now? I thought I heard something like that when TG started the BRU route...

Thomas Cook has worked with TG ever since the inception of their flights. That gave them an advantage on Jetair, since they could have more flexibility with thrice weekly flights than Jetair once weekly.

With all due respect, but I find this a rather childish reaction. The point is that those who dream that JAF could take over SN's spot in Belgian aviation, would the latter go bust, should be drawn back to reallity with the fact that full service carrier TG drove Belgiums finest out of the market. Of course, TG has the advantage of a hub at the other side, but to me it proves the Belgian government is doing the right thing by protecting SN all the way they can.

You have a point JAF is making money where SN is losing money. But then again, the latter has gone from 3 to 8 widebody planes in just 6 years and in the same time has replaced old inefficient Boeing 737 classics with more efficient A320 family aircraft, all on their own whereas JAF can fall back on the dozens of package travelers provided to them by Jetair.

But hey, I admire JAF for what they do and Jetair is my preferred travel company, but let's not forget reality.
