Re: JAF to Kinshasa?
What a shock
Brussels airlines can thank our totally objective government for that! Competition in Belgium on Brussels airlines network: not allowed.

In Gustinese, it's called "leveling the playing field".JAFflyer wrote:Competition in Belgium on Brussels airlines network: not allowed.

Re: JAF to Kinshasa?
I don't see why Belgian Carriers would compete. Belgian Aviation is almost nothing, so why destroy each other? Is Kinshasa the only viable option to fly to for JAF? How many extra longhaul a/c do they expect?
Re: JAF to Kinshasa?
Does this mean that SN will finally operate to FBM, when FBM is ready to receive A333's?
That woud be tremendous for both SN and Korongo.

Re: JAF to Kinshasa?
Maybe they can combine it with an other destination ? LBV or someting like that?

Re: JAF to Kinshasa?
So why then did Bru.Air bid for the MRU rights JAF wanted (and got them as well from our "level playing field government") with NO intention to fly there at all?Pocahontas wrote:I don't see why Belgian Carriers would compete. Re: JAF to Kinshasa?
I think MRU was on request of Club Med. But you can't fill an A330-200/300 from BRU.
Can't they give those rights to JAF ?

Re: 2 additional frequencies to D.R.C. for Brussels Airlines
Why should SN give something to JAF that they have.. for free?
Because they got two Congo rights from the gov? doh?
Maybe they can use these rights to do fly their actually, for Condor under LH wings
Competition is win some loose some..
I see JAF already flying desti's in competition to SN already so ..
why such a hassle for SN winning one point in their main back garden?
I actually could read the request for this rights from JAF as kicking your BRU AIRPORT collegue..
So why giving rights to someone which kicked your ass?

Re: 2 additional frequencies to D.R.C. for Brussels Airlines
I'm curious to see how they will use those new rights.
Possibity 1: Open a new route to Lubumbashi.
Possibility 2: Increase the flights to Kinshasa (5x morning flight and 4X late flight to combine with the Washington one)
Possibilty 3: As SN is short of Bussiness seat, send 2x a week a A319LR full bussiness, I already heard some month ago that they were thinking about this.

As far as I know, it's not SN that allot the Belgian traffic rights, but the Government.cathay belgium wrote: Why should SN give something to JAF that they have.. for free?

Granted, Gustin (or rather Davignon) has minister Wathelet in his pocket (for what reasons ? political or other ? your guess is as good as mine).
Anyway, in a few years, when SN is bankrupt, JAf will be able to use the full traffic rights !

I'm really fed up with this attitude. So you would love to see SN fail, have a SABENA-debacle happening with a results that thousands of jobs would be lost (SN and others)? And don't think that your beloved JAF (or whatever charter or low budget airline) would benefit from the failure of SN. It will be AF, KL, LH, BA, ... once again. Just like after SABENA.
And once again BRU airport would have to start all over again.
Bravo airazurxtror, It's not because you are frustrated probably because you failed to get a job at SN that others want to lose their job. Grow up and show some respect. Or move on. You won't be missed !!!
Re: 2 additional frequencies to D.R.C. for Brussels Airlines
He only thinks about his own RYR-trips, not about Belgian economy and the jobs of other people. He also doesn't realise SN's competition helps the keep RYR prices low.OO-ITR wrote: some take their dreams for reality

And sorry .. I really think SN is on a stronger basis then many think.. LH don't give them a full hand but there are more connections and better ones today then during Swissair.. so I don't see a failure in the near future..airbuske wrote:I think MRU was on request of Club Med. Funny, we see the A319LR to AFI again in this topic
And indeed JAF isn't a player which can take over SN role.. it will be LH/AF/KL and BA who's playing the cards by then.. and the great losers in that case is you and I !
Maybe FR and EZY will come also.. but that will involve the closure of CRL almost completly..
Be careful what you wish for
I like it like now FR here and SN there.. and the daily troubles
