Singapore Airlines soon from BRU to SIN?
This morning I heard a radio advertisement on StuBru from SQ about a new route BRU-SIN (soon) from 885eur. Can anyone confirm? Maybe I was still sleeping or didn't hear it correctly...

That looks strange to me... I know that SQ is doing some extra advertising to promote the SIN route via its other European destination! Look at the big advertising at the entrance of the terminal at BRU!Treeper wrote:This morning I heard a radio advertisement on StuBru from SQ about a new route BRU-SIN (soon) from 885eur. Re: Singapore Airlines soon from BRU to SIN?
I know they had a recent promotion for Brussels-Sao Paulo (through BCN, BRU-BCN operated by SN, BCN-GRU by SQ). But that's just a codeshare thing, advertising the increased transfer possibilities this summer as SQ will retime their flights to Sao Paulo (that are operated through BCN). I didn't hear anything else about a non-stop BRU-SIN route, maybe this is also just a codeshare operated flight (they do codeshare with SN on some routes and BRU-FRA with LH as well I believe)... So probably something like BRU-LHR-SIN or BRU-FRA-SIN or BRU-ZRH-SIN?

I'll try to look it up. In the past you could re-listen to StuBru, maybe that's still possible. I'll try it this evening.

885€ is the current promo fare advertised on SQ´s website. Fares are based on routing via MXP...

This said, I'd love to see them at BRU

It would've been a unique thing to hear this kind of commercial on the radio. Singapore Airlines doing a commercial on Belgian radio with a non-direct route. Sure you didn't read that somewhere on the web iso hearing it on the radio
That said, I do hope they'll come back to BRU one day. That'll make another very good *A carrier with a widespread network to choose from.

Re: Singapore Airlines soon from BRU to SIN?
I wonder if there would be enough demand for a route BRU-SIN...Would SIN be in the top 10 destinations for BRU non served directly at this moment? And what about HKG?
Re: Singapore Airlines soon from BRU to SIN?
Hong Kong, Tokyo, Miami, SFO/LAX, Shanghai, JNB, maybe even Singapore and Seoul may all be in the top-10 or top-20. But many of them are probably not profitable because they are low-yield (MIA, JNB, LAX,...). Wasn't that the reason for SQ to stop flying SIN-BRU, a market with too many low yield tourists (on their way to Indonesia) and a too low amount of business traffic?OO-ITR wrote:I wonder if there would be enough demand for a route BRU-SIN...Would SIN be in the top 10 destinations for BRU non served directly at this moment? Yup, just heard it again. Nothing about 'via'. More info on their website apparently
Re: Singapore Airlines soon from BRU to SIN?
Yes you can see it on their website, but as far as I can see it, all flights are operated through London (SN codeshare), FRA or MUC (LH codeshare), ZRH (LX codeshare) and MIlan (SN codeshare).

They may be testing the waters for a return to BRU.
After stopping flying SIN-BRU-JFK they used to have to fly BRU in combo with another European destination (CDG, ZRH,...).
Maybe now that you don't need to use a whole 744 to run a route and that there is a partner at the other end, they think it would be a good idea to run BRU again instead of increasing AMS or CDG? BRU's catch area is significant. There are many connection opportunities that could be covered via BRU.
Perhaps also the best idea would be for them to route their SIN-NYC via BRU instead of FRA which would provide support to the route and could play in the BRU Star Alliance patchwork. Aren't they dropping their nonstop SIN-EWR?
I flew SQ a lot in my younger years, 2 dozen times mostly on long sectors, and I admire them as one of the best airlines around, together with CX. I was happily surprised to fly on SQ aircraft (312) when my focus shifted from SIN to BEY and SQ to ME.
It would be about time to take the wife and kids on a long-haul trip to Asia!

An advertisement for flights to Singapore isn't a reason to presume Singapore is coming back to BRU
