Re: BRU 22/02/2013
Hi
Yes as a matter a fact there is, departures for the NATO summit at Brussels.
STD 14:20 Tupolev Tu-134 Ukraine Armed Forces
STD 15:20 USAF C-17 Globemaster III
STD 15:30 USAF E-4B (B742)
and possibly others.
Times are expected to be Local Times, changes without prior notice are possible.
source: scramble.nl forum - credits: Flying Dutchman
If the wind is like they predict (like today) it should be runway 02 for arrivals, Runway 07L/07R for departures.
Tu-134 is reported to be seen parked at Melsbroek (any one to confirm)?
Best regards, Yannick

Re: BRU 22/02/2013
Hi, Noesie
If I where you and you have the ability to do so ... i'd at least go an hour earlier ... you never know that the spot that you intended to take pics from is closed or not applicable due to runway use, then you can still search for alternatives. Also, you never know with this governmental/military aircraft, they just might be a lot earlier ... (or not).
Greets & maybe see you tomorrow, Yannick

Re: BRU 22/02/2013
For those who are more familiar than me with the Tu-134, what about its rate of climb at takeoff? Is it more like an A340 or like an A320 ? I will chose my spotting location in function of that, given that apparently spotters are not welcome anymore at the refugee center...
Re: BRU 22/02/2013
The rate of climb of the Tu-134 is not exceptional (I have flown dozens of times in a Tu-134). It reminded me that of the Caravelle.

Re: BRU 22/02/2013
Hi
Yes we did indeed pulled quite a sprint I think we can say
.
But it was still worth it. looking at the pictures afterworths I still feel they are S*** to what I had hoped , but still beter like this then nothing. At least they will still look more or less decent if you print them out on normal photo
format
.
Let's be the first to post pictures ... so that it can only improve as from then ..
if I where last I probably didn't dare to post them anymore
haha.
And for those interested in the callsigns (for future use maybe), it's still not complete though, the numbers you must forgive me, I forgot them, just remembered a few out of my head, or heard about it afterwards. So if you have any additions/corrections, feel free to share, 'd be very pleased with that.
- E4B US Air Force (BUST 21)
- Boeing C-17 US Air Force (REACH 280 )
- Tu-134 Ukrainian Armed Forces (UR-xxxx) - reg -
- Italy Air Force -Falcon 50 or A319CJ ??- (Italian Air Force xxx / later on India Alpha Mike xxx)
- Czech Air Force Yakovlev Yak-50 (Czech Air Force 260(?)).
- German Air Force A310-300MRT (German Air Force xxx)
- UK Air Force BAe HS-125 (KittyHawk 005(?))
- Irish Air Corps Gulfstream G-IV (Irish 251)
of course the E-4B had a crappy parking position ... good that I brought my ladder

Boeing C-17A Globemaster III Charleston AFB

Czech Yak-40

German Air Force was denied 07L departure, so good for us so we at least still saw something on 07R

I started to get suspicious that it was so quiet so I went outside to check on the Abelag Apron, and yes indeed ... SO close from missing him ... Departing 07L. The hour after ... recovering and caughing

and the C-17 followed right after

And there was he finally, although he couldn't have choosen a worse routing and departure intersection on 07L.

and there she goes ... with a lot of noise and smoke ... just how I like it
. still surprised that they let him go on 07L iso 07R ...

and of course ... to conclude ... lucky enough on that short period of time to see OO-JAU
first one I see in the new livery for me.

@hvs89 : pleased to meet you by the way, and let's hope next time will be in better conditions, then it will sure be even lot more fun
(and without the running
). Maybe next EU-summit if you have the ability to make it over on Thursday & Friday? (I will if the weather is a bit 'ok', or if I'm totally bored anyway).
@Noesie: where you also there at the P3? Probably have seen you then but didn't knew who you where
Best regards, Yannick

Re: BRU 22/02/2013
Hi
@ Atco EBBR: well it was the first one of those good old Tu-134's I'd actually ever seen and I must say I was pleasantly surprised by it's rather LOUD appearance
. It was almost like there was a afterburner on it
. Figured out they might have preferred to send him on another runway because of the noise, although don't know if it would make a difference for quota or possible complaints anyhow. I kinda counted on the fact that he most probably wasn't going to get 07L for departure for noise reasons (that's what I've been told about it's previous departure out of BRU, on 07R).
But I guess that theory is 'slammed into the ground' now
.
