No. Fact is, It was JAF itself. They place staff at gates and do part of the boarding themselves..
The boy passed the JAF employee let him pass without acting on it. It's of course easier to blame the handler, specially if you are just about to dump them. Anyway, the boy should never got this far.

I hope you realize a change of this kind kind is NOT an overnight decision

Dragon: Judging by your comment, you seem to be very experienced at gate checking...

While it is true that on some flights (not all, by far), there is a JAF cabin crew member at the gate, most of the pax will still be checked by the gate agent. Why? Because the gate agent actually does have experience, so he or she will be a lot faster than the JAF cabin crew.
You can not be sure which of the two persons the boy passed, if there even was a cabin crew member at the gate.

Like I said before, before you start criticizing anyone, make sure you have all the information.

In this case, Dragon is correct. Both on procedure JAF as what is been seen on video taping. To easy to blame the handler. Also on another topic he is right: would be wrong to focus only on the last "mistake".

He is not fully correct, it is a shared procedure, which means none of the two checked the kid. Therefore, it is a mixed responsability of the gate agent and the ccm involved. But, indeed, the kid should have never been allowed to be at the gate in the first place.

Sorry, but unless there is a piece of the story I missed, assumptions are being made... Again.
For starters, we don't know whether there was a CCM at the gate or not. There might have been, there might not have been.
We also don't know who checked the boy, with or without assumed family, at the gate. Might have been the gate agent, might have been the eventual CCM.

Just to set things straight, I'm not trying to blame or acquit anyone. I'm just staying our SOP, as Cabin Crew.
I don't know what happened, but it is obvious this was a sequence of events, not just one single error.

KriVa, part you "missed" is that thanks to camera's at the airport, there is a good view on what happened. But let's not blame the crewmember who had to assist. If everybody takes lessons from this, that would be THE most important.

So, to summarise... We still don't know what happened exactly, right? Or has the recording from the cameras been shown somewhere?

Not public, but a lot of people did see it: from airport, JAF, handler, ... So there is not much discussion on what happened. Rather how this could happen...

BelgoPilot, it is not because you did not see the images that everybody else is assuming things. Pls do accept that some people might in this case be better informed. Agree that it is sometimes difficult to make a distinction between who knows and who is assuming. Gate was done by 2 people: one of the handler, one of JAF. Will not go in further details on what can be seen on the tapes and has been seen by all companies involved.
