CRL-BIQ + BOD-CRL on RYR

Post by airazurxtror »

A little trip to south-west France , with Ryanair, yesterday.

Charleroi-Biarritz, 12 feb 2013, flight FR 5331, price 16,00 euros
Scheduled : 09.00-10.50
Boeing 737-800 EI-EKO
Push-back 08.57, take-off 09.14, landing 10.26

Take off from runway 07, today. The aircraft had been de-iced, and the view through the window was very trouble during nearly the whole flight. Some turbulences at about mid-flight, making the "fasten seat belt" sign appear for a few minutes, but nothing heavy. The Ryanair in-flight magazine features an article about Brussels, this month.
Landing at Biarritz, the weather was very grey and wet.
At Biarritz, Ryanair connects through an air-bridge to the front door, much to my surprise. Not knowing it, I had taken a seat in the back, as is my custom, and I had to wait nearly ten minute before getting out of the aircraft ...
Something you don't often see outside of France : the checked baggage arrive on a belt, with open access for all who care to step inside the terminal, passenger or not. At Nice airport, recently, they have caught a thief who had stolen more than 100 cases, just by entering the terminal and picking them up from the belt ... not difficult !

I took the bus to Bayonne, had a good look at that picturesque city and then with the train to Bordeaux for the return flight.

Bordeaux-Charleroi, 12 february 2013, flight FR 1389, paid 18 euros
Scheduled : 19.45 - 21.20
Boeing 737-800 EI-DLM
Push back 19.34, take-off 19.43, landing 21.11, engines cut at 21.13

At Bordeaux Mérignac, there is now a terminal on the side of the old terminal, reserved for LCC only. It's called "Billi", for "Bordeaux Illico" ! It's a bit like the mp3 at Marseille, but larger and more convivial. Simple, quick, and nice. A very good and intelligent idea, if you ask me. (Why they don't do something of the kind at Brussels is a mystery).
Nothing to say about the flight : just one more uneventful Ryanair flight, on time and without fuss. Landing again on 07 at Charleroi, in a very cold weather.

Not even the trumpets of glory for "another Ryanair on-time arrival" ?

Any feedback about the cost of your ground transport?

And why does the Ryanair in flight magazine feature a city they don't serve? That must be a first in aviation! ;)

@sn26567 : yes, of course, the trumpets - that is for sure - they make everybody happy !
@ inquirer :
- bus from BIQ to Bayonne : 1 euro
- train from Bayonne to Bordeaux : 34 euros
- Jet'bus from Bordeaux Saint-Jean to Mérignac : 6 euros
IF IT AIN'T BOEING, I'M NOT GOING.

I saw the same in the USA upon arrival after a domestic flight to both DEN and SEA. Didn't like it very much, I have to say.

That is what you call incompetence and a total lack of proper organisation. I'm glad I never go to France. The only French airport I have ever used was CDG, and I was far from impressed with it.
Sabena and Sobelair - gone but never forgotten.
