Hi
Thx for sharing Tangolima.
As you mention it, indeed Thursday & Friday is EU summit in Brussels.
EDIT: No exact arrival times and visitors known but I guess it will be usual stuff ...
Meeting starts at 3PM so I guess they will start to arrive from 11/12hrs on till about 14hrs.

Hello,
If somebody drives along Abelag, could you tell us which (governmental) planes are parked in front of the Brussels Airlines parking ?
Thanks a lot !

Re: BRU 07/02/2013
Currently seated in wingtips seeing them all arrive. Currently I am not allowed to go near Abelag by the police (not even on foot) so. Probably most will be parked at SN parking and the rest to the right. There's not that much room anyway.
Re: BRU 07/02/2013
Just tried at abelag but there is no possibilities
At wingtip too and saw the french gov. Arrived .

Re: BRU 07/02/2013
Hi
That sucks. Not even at the entrance of the Abelag parking (public road)? I never had a problem with that, usually I have a brief chat with the police officers stating my intentions and so far as long as I didn't ENTER the parking they didn't make a problem out of that. Remind ... they can't actually even forbid you to stand there, it's a public road. They can only do that if they completely lock down the road for all trafic (incl, busses, cars, bycicles, pedestrians).
So far as the EU arrivals, well apart from the weather which was really shitty with moments (just TOO dark) it did gave some nice contrast in the background for some planes, but not the ones I needed it to be such for. It seems that RWY 25R was temporary closed for some reason (no idea why). This meant I was lucky enough to see them all arriving on 25L (except for the Czech and Polish ones (didn't see them), just missed the Greek AF EMB but it landed on 25R), finally the French and the Germans DID land on 25R (of course, what else could we expect). And I don't know how the Dutch delegation travels to Brussels for the EU summit but I would swear I saw them overtaking me on the E19 at high speed with a big police escorte.
Well we can have another try tomorrow if the weather is sunny enough (or dry enough at least). Probably they will be departing between 14-16hrs (as the meeting SHOULD end at about 13hrs LT).
Regards, Yannick

@Bruspotter: I asked a police officer he didn't know so I went on to the checkpoint where two friendly agents told me the area was on temporary lockdown and you could only pass if you had to go to the BIAC car park or to the SN headquarters (with your airport badge)

[PICS] BRU 07/02/2013
Hi,
@ Tomskii, that's indeed annoying. But still strange .. also not if you where ON a bus? Because I recall last time I was standing with a friend taking pictures at the beginning of Abelag parking (even with my ladder and they didn't make a problem out of that) and there was no problem. However the only problem was getting to pass the 'VIP entrance' of Abelag. Another friend who works at the JAF house a little further happen to had to collect his badge around noon and was denied access to pass. However they did tell him that if he was taking a bus and he was on it, there was no problem because they would let the busses pass by. So maybe you ought to try that next time? Or if you are planning that, make sure you arrive at the spot at the other side of the VIP entrance (the side of the B-house, Jetair-house etc ...). Maybe if you come from that side it is no problem to go so far as the main Abelag parking because you don't have to be near the VIP entrance of Abelag (small parking). Just an idea, worth trying maybe
By the way, nice movie you made there, really like it! Should have one pointed on 25R one time for the departures, would be nice
. But I guess you have to have a really powerfull and long lasting battery doesn't it? I know that if I film with my DSLR (Canon 500D) on highest quality it gives you massive big files after just 5min filming so I don't know exactly how do you do it and how long this time lapse was actually in real time. But, wouldn't know how to do that, really nice!
It looks by the way a lot nicer with the rainshower etc .. brings in 'live'. Though I must say it's nicer to watch from behind the cozy table at Wingtips then I had to stand outside awaiting arrivals at 25L
haha.
Oh by the way, for those interested, here are some pics from that day. Was only there for 2 hours, just for the sumit arrivals (only missed a few in the beginning or during one of the many rain/snow showers that afternoon) and left afterworths because it was getting to could and I was fed up with the rain.
So expect no top shots, but just for the fun/benefit of sharing maybe
. I DO was the only one at that location so if there is anyone else from another location, feel free to share your shots as well.

Hi Yannick,
Love your pictures!
The footage I recorded was about 3 hours long. And they are all seperate pictures 1 shot each 2 seconds. The footage was shot with my GoPro HD Hero 3 White Edition. The battery that's in there is small but almost as thick as the casing itself. Normally if I film or do these photo timelapses it should last about 4 hours before I would have to recharge it or change the battery. If I would like to I can just plug in the USB cable and keep it charged constantly (But I wasn't seeing myself sitting there until 10pm lol)
As for the 25R departures, that might be an idea for next time ^^

Hi, Tomskii
Thx for the appreciation
.
Aha so it's actually a camera which is more suitable for it then
I couldn't image my recording 4hours in one stretch
.
Actually am really a 'liker' of that kind of filming. Maybe should try it as well one day if I have a film camera. I'd love to make one from the morning arrival rush and the morning departure rush on 25R. Would be nice to have it just set up somewhere and you can just take pictures the whole morning, you can see afterworths like it was a webcam at the airport (something I would really like to see happening for real, a fixed webcam at the airport, at least if it was to check how the weather was at that time
).
Best regards, Yannick

Well more suitable, it's a wideangle lens that's standard on there and it's mostly used for Ski trips, car stupidities etc but it's so versatile that you can do anything with them.Bruspotter wrote:Hi, Tomskii

PS: Honestly I think we as spotters should try to arrange something with BRU to get a spottersplatform on those balconies of the B-Pier or on the roof of the to be built connector building. (although I'll never see that happen
There's a lot of potential on BRU grounds for such a spotter location but BRU nor anyone else seem to care much.
