Does anybody really need them? They seem to be a fetish airline for many (not pointing at you) and so many hope to see them coming to 'their' airport, while a company like EK would drop capacity on BRU and connect many cities BRU currently has or is hoping to have in the near future via one stop at discount rates. Having a juggernaut like EK on your turf with the lack of a strong home carrier (at least for Asian operations) would probably mean loosing many Asian destinations you'd hope to serve from BRU one day.

Thanks nut no thanks. As an aviation enthousiast, it would be nice if they'd dispatch an airliner they currently don't see at BRU, but if you have a look at their fleet it would just mean yet another A330 flying to Brussels Airport.

Daily to BRU yes, but working with SN...doubt it. I don't see why Qatar would want to work with SN on Africa.
It would mean quite a big backtracking flying from DOH via BRU to Africa...

Is Didier Reynders missing a few... million brain cells? :geek:
With a guy like this at the head of the Finance Ministry (formerly), no wonder that Belgium is crumbling.

QR doesn't need SN neither for Africa or Europe feeding.
QR flies to most major European cities, hence SN has nothing to offer.

They went daily on BRU, this affects SN's shareholder LH negatively, so why the need for Reynders to pull a dead rabbit from his hat? I can't even find a ridiculous explanation, except that Reynders thought that he could stop the imaginary end of the world by saying so... Whatever they're smoking, it must be really good stuff.

I hope he didn't go all the way to DOH for this "announcement".

That's why my last sentence is there, the rest was just straight from the article.

Well negative? It depends how you see It.

- the downgrade of the EWR route is a result of the JFK route of SN i think.
- the seasonal downgrade of IAD surprises me a little, no first class anymore on the route.
- after all. In August there Will be 3 777-200ER of United a day in BRU :D

Isn't this the temporary reduction TG planned for may-june, as already mentioned earlier in this topic?

Yeay indeed, I prefer a short, 'cheap' (you know what I mean) trip to Venice anyway, haha
That's why I booked Transavia to VCE from EIN. 50 EUR all-in in June, bus from Berchem Station directly to EIN.

In French (sorry)
http://www.air-journal.fr/2013-01-20-th ... 64641.html

Short summary : TG will increase frequencies this coming summer to FCO, MXP, MAD and CPH.

No increase in frequency for BRU. Not enough demand ? Poor load factor ?

Does anyone have the explication ?

I do not have the explication but I just came back in BRU from SGN and BKK with TG and the flight was completely full.

I think that if we do a little analysis, those changes made by TG can reveal another picture.

In Summer 2012, TG was operating the BRU route thrice weekly with the B777-200ER with the following configuration: 30C/262Y. The carrier was offering a total of 876 seats per week.

In Winter 2013, TG is operating the route thrice weekly with the B777-300ER with the following configuration: 8F/32C/274Y. The carrier is offering a total of 942 seats per week.

This led to an increase in the total weekly seat offering by a modest 7.5%, with the growth coming mostly from the premium seat offering (+30%).

From September 2013, TG will be deploying their own B777-300ER with the following configuration: 34C/322Y. The carrier will be offering a total of 1068 seats per week.

This will led to an increase of 13% in the total weekly seat offering with the growth coming mainly from the economy offering (+17.5%) and a decrease in the premium seat offering. Compared to Summer 2012, this growth is even more important with a total weekly seat increase of 22%!

So I would say that TG is growing its BRU route by slowly increasing the capacity offered, season after season. It is deploying a rather precaucious approach using a slower growth strategy with the deployment of their new 77W with a higher density instead of adding a fourth weekly frequency with the leased 77W from Jet Airways. This fourth frequency can come at a later stage, maybe next winter when TG will have gradually expanded its customer base on the route and will have enough 77W. The leased 77W currently on the BRU route will leave TG in the coming months.
It's better to start walking before running when developping a new route.

As for MAD and FCO getting additionnal frequencies, please be aware that those destinations were previously operated with the B744 while now they are operated by smaller aircrafts (772/A346). It's sometimes a question of putting things into perspective.

I would have preferred an increase in frequency for BRU because frequency is more important for business travelers. Anyway, thank you very much for your explanation.

Frequency increase is planned for next winter. Let's hope performance keeps up so we can get the extra flights.

Very correct. At least 5 flights weekly is necessary to attract business people.

I travel 5 - 6 times to Bangkok per year, but never depart from BRU as times are not convenient.
Return Friday evening is OK, but for departing I need to fly via MUC for convenient times.
