New livery/colors for AA - official

Re: New livery/colors for AA - official
The blue changing into white livery from United was one of the best ever in my opinion, a pity it only lasted for a very short time...
This livery looks to me as if they{ve stuck a cheap tail on a stylish fuselage... they don't match together...

And what will happen if American merges with US Airways and gets a new name in a few weeks from now? All that money will have been spent for nothing. Not a wise way to do business for a bankrupt company. It seems that the current management of American wants to let its footprint and show that they are working, whatever the consequences.

andre,
It was already stated that when there will be a merger the brand American would stay the same,..
Also the headquarters would still be in Houston,.. American..
All the rest could be US Airways...
Hope the deal will be off...
US Airways hasn't that much to offer for American,..
maybe with the A32X comin' into the fleet of AA also..
but the A330 would be harder to fill in..
We'll see what Mr. Horton and his board will decide..
Guess the merger will be there only if there is no other option to take for AA..

That tail is not growing on me despite viewing it repeatedly, however the livery does not look that bad on the CG 77W video.
Amercian staffers want the merger with US Air, they have been quoted as well, ofcouse only in text no visuals, so could be false propaganda.

Not enchanted by the tail... the rest is quiet Okay... although I will miss the original grey/inox scheme...

That was the most horrible paint scheme ever in my opinion.brusselsairlinesfan wrote: although I will miss the original grey/inox scheme...

From an artistic/spotter perspective, it's not great.
However...
I'm marvelled by this paint scheme.
Original, beautiful colors, and it makes it feel alive. It adds perspective and weight to AA as a company.
From a marketing perspective, it's just an awesome paint scheme.
Passengers will be looking out for that tail.
I think that AA will merge with US. This tail has US Airways written all over it.

The designer of the old American logo, Massimo Vignelli, doesn't like the new one. What a surprise! The original logo didn't show an eagle, but American pilots threatened to go on strike because they wanted an eagle, which was then designed by someone else.
And one funny remark "the American flag has 13 stripes, right? Not 11. Did American add only 11 stripes because they are in Chapter 11? "

its rather obvious why there are no 13 stripes. 11 was chosen to point out the number of stripes have no meaning where 12 would have been seen as 13-1.sn26567 wrote: And one funny remark "the American flag has 13 stripes, right? Re: New livery/colors for AA - official
Maybe they didn't want to repeat the mistake of Brussels Airlines with their 13 red dots on the tail?

The company that designed the new AA livery is also the one that created the magnificent Air Malta livery in September 2012. There is less controversy about the latter:

Must say the the livery is growing on me, and I'm even starting to like it. Looking forward to seeing the livery life sometime soon. Hope to be flying before the end of the month again.
And (sorry I forgot to copy in) to the one who mentioned Houston as headquarters for the "new American", a bit further upstate... Fort Worth it will remain.
