Couldn't they get two new A330, increase hte number of flight to JFK and de-triangularesed some African route with the A330-200 and open a new destination to the US?

Surprising... quiet late already, no?! Any deadline for the final decision? Why do they hesitate between the 2 options (+ / -)?
At least we know it will be BOS or IAD!!!

It was already clear BOS and IAD were their most important possibilities (next to a second NYC flight). The 'problem' probably is United. I heard SN preferes IAD and they offered their second option (BOS apperently) for the case United/Atlantic ++ wouldn't agree on IAD. The whole thing isn't about SN on its own, but about Atlantic ++ and mainly United.

During the Sabena era, there was a BRU-BOS-ATL flight for several years. Does such flight no longer make sense nowadays?

Or could we have a BRU-IAD-JFK-BRU or BRU-BOS-JFK-BRU?

It would help to try a new destination without taking too much risk and test. And in the same time add some frequencie on JFK.

The problem is that this doesn't work anymore in the US. People on these routes (either out of JFK or BOS or even ATL) don't want to make a stop, they want to fly non-stop. SN can try such a route, but the result will be that pax will go for the competition like BA, AF, LH,... that does fly non-stop. Besides, I believe the US doesn't allow non-US airlines to transport pax within the US (so for exemple, that SN sells JFK-BOS-JFK tickets), so that's makes it even less atractive.
Such routings work for Africa, maybe Latin-America and even some Asian routes. But if you try this on the EU-US/US-EU market, you'll get in troubles. Flexibility, service and speed are way too important on this market with a huge amount of competition, and a one-stop operation doesn't fit into that.

Yes, I kind of expected that.

Well there are anyway no direct flight between BOS and BRU, so if the PAX do BOS-JFK-BRU ont the same aicraft and so very good timetable, I'm sure they will find it better than doing BOS-somewhere-BRU with a change of aircraft and waiting for connections. Maybe not for IAD because this is true there are already direct flight and PAX would prefer those flight than having a stop in JFK.

And in case they would do some flight between to US destination, they can do not commercialize the flights in between or at least code sharing with star alliance partner.

In case they go to Washington, will we see the 2 flights operating at roughly the same time then, or will one be an evening flight? Which one? The United flight? I guess that's what it is about: United needing to reschedule and possibly also change type of aircraft to make room for Brussels airlines, no?

Have some patience, it was said ticket sales would ideally start before end of January. Still 2 weeks to go ;)

Besides UA or instead of UA? If besides: an evening flight?

IAD can't sustain another daily flight so my opinion is that they will replace UA metal ...
Was the choice driven by the fact that there is huge afro american population living in Washington ... I mean potential feeding for the brussels airlines african network?

If true, I don't understand this...

Within the Atlantic ++ joint venture it doesn't really matter who does the actual flying, since revenue is split up between the participating airlines (in this case UA/SN), so why is SN going after a partnering airlines route? Couldn't they better use the equipment to other markets? Are they trying to push UA out of the BRU market or are they just flying on behalf the Americans while there are other markets to explore?
