Future of Jet Airways in BRU!

Post by SabenaForever »

Hi

I was wondering if there is still a future for Jet Airways in BRU...

I think so, but after al the negatieve news the last couple of months; the cancelled route to JFK, the route to Chennai that will be cancelled from 15 November plus the news of the new route from Bangelore to Munich from 14 March 2013.

Are these signs in bad direction for the BRU hub?

There is for sure a future for Jet Airways at BRU but it seems that we lost two lines to Munich airport.

The announced new line ex-Bangalore will not come to BRU but to MUC.

Like I told before, you cannot plan aviation months or years in advance. In April they announced 7 more frequenties as from December. I don't think we will see them, we are already October and nothing in the pipeline.

We will see what the next coming months will bring.

Maybe, but then I would have expected them to move the MAA flight to MUC. Now they cancel MAA completely, and start up something new with BLR.
Otherwise I would have thought DEL or BOM to MUC would make more sense. Or are these destinations already covered by LH, leaving BLR as the only option?

Hi A330,

DEL and BOM are covered by LH out of FRA. Jet Airways will offer them new flights via MUC. But.....LH is playing this well. They are the main engine behind this all. They asked Jet Airways to come to MUC. They asked Jet to fly only flights out of India to MUC and then back. LH is taking then all their pax further to the US.

Note that LH is still a big competitor for SN and for BRU. It is not because they have a stake in SN that they will move their pax to BRU, oh no no no, they will steal them for BRU and bring them all to their German airports.

Hi all,

On BRU airports website - in the newsletter of the month October - it is said:

"Jet Airways will suspend its daily Chennai flight as from 15 November. After halting the daily JFK flight in September and the loss of connecting travel to Chennai, this route became unsustainable. The remaining 4 routes of the ‘scissor’ hub: Mumbai, Delhi, Newark and Toronto are doing well and may see more capacity in the near future."

It sounds a little bit strange since we discussed they will probably will withdraw from BRU. Will they all go to the B777 again? Did they get their B777's back from TK (and others)? Does anyone have more news or heard more rumors on this?

It is also rumoured that the Toronto flight will be axed. On the indian aviation forum it seems confirmed that the BOM-EWR flight will be operated with the new A333 (first route) as soon as Jet received them, but I don't know if this plane wiil replace the A332 or the B777 (or both). So, capacity increase? I doubt it.

Due to the current economic situation, Jet will stop flying from Delhi to Milan as from 1 February. Pax will be send through BRU and LHR again with SN and BA.

Less passengers from Paris to India via Brussels?

Jet Airways has just introduced a codeshare agreement with Etihad: passengers from Paris to India can fly one of the two daily Etihad flights from Paris to Abu Dhabi under the 9W code and continue on board of a Jet aircraft to their final destination in India.

They can of course still use the Thalys from Paris to Brussels Airport and take a direct flight to India in BRU.

I wonder which percentage of the passengers will still use the Brussels option.

Will be interesting to see what's next. In any case, it looks as if EY does have some influence on what 9W does, despite its minority stake.

It's not that simple actually. Jet Airways is asking for traffic rights to fly to Paris for years. They don't get them because Air India is flying Delhi-CDG. They see a HUGE demand for that route, but they are not allowed to fly it. Capacity on SN's two daily CDG-flights is way too limited (SN needs it all for their AFI-flights) and the Thalys is a small solution, but not serving the whole market.

So EY is a very logical solution if they are planning to work in an extensive coorperation.

I don't think neither Jet nor Etihad will leave BRU soon, though you never know in aviation these days...

The first is about to bring brand new A333 equipment to BRU. Would one do that on route(s) that are to be axed? The latter loaded and unloaded shortly after (by accident?) an almost double daily service AUH-BRU-AUH as from Summer 2013.

Exciting times ahead in Indian aviation and Skyteam, that's for sure!
