Sadly, full does not mean profitable.

Brussels - Tokyo doesn't show a high yield factor. You can compare the situation to Johannesburg. Sabena had many passengers on these routes, but even then they were not profitable.

These routes are probably among the first long hauls to return to BRU when times get better. But we're not there yet.

Much depends on the general cost of a certain operation and a whole range of variables. A high seat occupancy is an important element to contribute to success, but not the only one.
Long haul flights are, indeed sn26567, for the feature... Like already said: why should ANA fly to BRU? FRA, AMS, LHR, CDG, ... lots of routes that are profitable (how dou you say it...?) It should be stupid to do that, ANA! (maybe cargo, but not passengers!)

You're right demol, and in addition to that you land on an island-airport: if you don't see what I mean just surf on: http://www.airliners.net/open.file/252568/M/ :P

Is that right? Osaka airport becoming Atlantis? Going there in the future by hydroplane?

For more information on Osaka Kansai Airport, you can surf on their website

I once saw a TV show where they explained the whole project, and how they finally build it. They said that from the beginning the island was sinking faster than expected and that rising sea levels could also contribute to an earlier sinking. To counteract this they developed several measures, but I don't remeber them, and I'm not sure if they got positive results from them.

I'll try to find out,

Yes yes they are working on the island to keep it a float but apparently is more difficult then they thought ...heads have rolled already from contracters who says they give up . :pang: ..

but lets get back on topic ok .. :offtopic: . flying to tokyo .. :teach: .
it would be nice if SN would fly then back to NRT if they have an airbus 340 or an B747 they could make it .?. :plane:

Indeed but they first need the A340 or B747, and that's not for the near future I guess ;)

Let's hope they will get to Asia as quickly as possible :P

If the bird flu continues to strike in asia, it will probably not be the time to start flights to the asian region.

bird flu is overrated , they think asia is entire asia but in japan there is only been 1 farm and that was 5 weeks ago so , no more anymore since so our flights are fullllllllll overloaded i would say because i get overloaded by serving them all :::: so full are they ...747-400 overfull evry route ;;;; paris frankfurt london and narita
a usa route i dont do but apparently they are overfull too ... so i think if they sell the right price their ticktes they will be succesfull too i guess ... take over an used 340 ... or a 747-400 then you can fly to nrt ;... its the most busy airport in japan ...

Thanks for the feedback flying Corbra. It's nice to hear that the traffic is doing great over there.

I know that the bird flu isn't spreaded over the entire region but people often generalize it, that's why I thought that traffic could fell if it would persit in the region.
