This one was just a retrofit, the other two were a retrofit in combination with a C-check.convair wrote:According to flightradar24, OO-SFV is doing JFK today! This a/c merely stayed 2 weeks in Malta; was it for cabin retrofit? The other 2 a/c stayed in Malta for 6-7 weeks for the retrofit...
Does an "insider" have an explanation for this? Thanks.

Thanks Yuri166 !
Re: brussels airlines to New York!
Quick question: is SN already accepting cargo on SN501 BRU-JFK? If so what is the approx max load they can carry on this transatlantic sector?
I guess cargo chould also bring in some interesting revenue... for them

Clever remark: cargo revenue is often forgotten in airline discussions.FLYAIR10 wrote:Quick question: is SN already accepting cargo on SN501 BRU-JFK? If so what is the approx max load they can carry on this transatlantic sector?

And that is why they use the A330-300 iso for instance the B757 or B767 as some here have suggested. They use the same ULD types as A330-200 's that make the connection to Africa.
And if needed (and the plains are prepared for it) the same ULD are even loadable on A319/320/321.
So choosing for an all Airbus mid/long haul fleet is not only choosing for commonality in the cockpit but also in ULD types.
Re: brussels airlines to New York!
Hello
A330-300 are flying to the US, not A330-200 as these will only be retrofitted at the end of this year. A319/320 aircraft from SN are not ready to load ULD's, only bulkload.

you can't load the A330 LD3 containers on an A320flightlover wrote:And if needed (and the plains are prepared for it) the same ULD are even loadable on A319/320/321.

Who spreads these myths?
SN's a319/A320 are LD3 ready, the capability isn't just used and they put net supports instead to hold the bulk.
On the floor you have locks.

LD3 are for heavy's
Tyical container for 320 family is AKH and not AKE!!!
Re: brussels airlines to New York!
do you have access to the tarmac at BRU? if so give me a date and we will go and see if you can load an AKE LD3 in an A320 or do you expect SN to load AKH LD3's in the A330's?Flanker wrote:It's funny that you are wrong.

oh AVION1 you're faster
guess google doesn't give you every detail

Re: brussels airlines to New York!
Keep making yourself ridiculous.
The A330 and A320 have compatible containers, the -46's.
Several SN aircraft have the locks and rollers if my memory is good.
Not all of them are bulk.

Re: brussels airlines to New York!
yes as said, the AKH. if you know the difference between the AKE and AKH you'll realize how stupid it would be to load an A330 with AKH containersFlanker wrote:Keep making yourself ridiculous.

Re: brussels airlines to New York!
It's not as efficient but it's possible and 100% compatible. You can also combine with pallets that you shape accordingly to use the space efficiently.
The holds don't always travel full full. If you take aircraft like the 330-300, you usually have some empty spots.
What better than to fill them with some transit cargo?

Re: brussels airlines to New York!
Using an AKH in an Airbus 330/340 or a boeing 777/747 condamns 2 LD3 positions in the hold...so it's simply stupid to load an AKH in a widebody aircraft!!!Flanker wrote:It's not as efficient but it's possible and 100% compatible.
