Big thumbs up to Jetairfly
Big thumbs up to Jetairfly
Just home from a holiday in St Croix, US Virgin Islands. Flew from Billund Denmark with JAF 767, OO-JAP both ways, in Comfort Class (front half of the cabin).
Very impressed with the flights. Aircraft seemed spotless inside and out, with interior in very good condition. Seat comfort good, legroom fine in Comfort Class, but looked tight in the rear half of the cabin.
Food quality (at least on the outbound flight) and cabin crew service was better than I've experienced on legacy carriers for several years. Both flights were on schedule.
A big thanks to Jetairfly for a professional, high quality experience.

Re: Big thumbs up to Jetairfly
Hello,
You were very lucky. For me it was BIG thumbs down. I have noticed that their long haul operations are usually late due to extreme tight number of planes. I flew with them to Cancun with a stop in Varadero last year in Comfort Class. Outbound trip was ok... Nothing to write home about, but the return was terrible.
First, upon arriving in the airport the flight was late 4 hours due to a technical problem. They offered a 9 US$ voucher, that pays for about half a burger in Cancun airport. After checking in and waiting these 4 hours, further delay of 2 hours. No one knew anything about and no announcements at all. Plane arrives and then we are informed that the return will be re-routed by Varadero instead of direct flight ... here we go, another hour added. The embarking was a mess because the seat places were not respected (they couldn´t be because of the new route). Upon arriving in Varadero there was no announcement from the crew weather we should take our assigned seats - so I have decided to go to my seat only to have a extremely grumpy FA saying that we should not move because they were counting people - fair enough but just tell us that before hand.
I have sent a complaint to JetAirFly and they did answer after 2 months saying that the delay was due to a technical problem. Of course they did not mention anything about the European Directive concerning compensation on delayed flights. Their only offer for compensation was "remboursement des frais
supplémentaires éventuels de parking, repas, rafraîchissements et conversations téléphoniques pendant le retard." Anyway, this would only be paid if I had how to prove - ok, next time will keep the receipts for 2 months
Finally I was impressed that in all the take-offs / landings a different passenger went in the cockpit. I mean, I am not paranoid about security but I think that in critical moments such as take offs and landings there should be no "external distraction" in the cockpit. If something goes wrong, will that person be calm enough to just observe? I doubt it... I also mentioned that in my complaint but this section was ignored from the response.
I will not fly JetAirFly again until they have structure and respect for their customers.

Re: Big thumbs up to Jetairfly
Since this flight is essentially for Danish passengers, what about the cabin crew? Were they the usual Belgian flight attendants or do they have Danish FAs as well? I guess that the cockpit was manned by the regular JAF crew.ony wrote:Just home from a holiday in St Croix, US Virgin Islands. Re: Big thumbs up to Jetairfly
You have been the victim of exceptional circumstances. There has been a time when long-haul flights were plagues by the poor reliability of OO-TUC, but these times seem to be over now that they have a second 767 and they are able to count on the support of heir sister companies, especially Arkefly.spmab wrote:I will not fly JetAirFly again until they have structure and respect for their customers.
I have flown Jetairfly many times without any problem, including on punctuality. Give them another chance!

Re: Big thumbs up to Jetairfly
Honestly, purely on short haul (I have not done any flights that qualify being called long haul), I have yet to have a bad experience with JAF. I have also had a flight on OO-TUC, which I found quite good actually. The plane felt a lot less cramped than the 737s they normally use for short haul flights, the service was good, etc.
It was also my first time flying on a widebody though, so that might've had something to do with it as well.
For what it's worth though, I think JAF are quite good for a charter carrier. Way better than Thomas Cook in my opinion.

Flew them to Paphos and back in September 2011. Pretty good flight to be honest, no "never again's" ... But I was terribly dissappointed by the Wout Bru (supposedly 3 course) meal I ordered. Very dissappointing ...

Both cockpit and cabin had regular belgian JAF crew.sn26567 wrote:Since this flight is essentially for Danish passengers, what about the cabin crew? Re: Big thumbs up to Jetairfly
As a bit of an aviation enthusiast, before my trip with JAF, I did some research on the internet. Indeed it seemed that the problems with OO-TUC were over, but after my problem I have followed for some days the rotation of the long haul planes and there were many times some kind of delay. I don´t know if anyone here would have some kind of statistics for that. For example, today :sn26567 wrote:You have been the victim of exceptional circumstances. Departures:
21:25 JAF727* Mombasa Delayed 22:00
Arrivals
18:35 JAF624* Bangkok Suvarnabhumi International Airport Delayed 20:25
Also what might have made my experience a bit bitter was the very high price I paid for the ticket (1100 euro) as this is a non-charter price, the expectations were higher...
Re: Big thumbs up to Jetairfly
Hmm, I should go into my documents and dig up the details, but I am absolutely sure that this is not the way it was "presented" to me. I booked my trip w/ Neckermann and the kind of premium arrangement (incl. the meal of Wout Bru) they offered cost me up to 55 or 60 EUR as far as I can recall it ... the whole booking process was a rather messy thing, by the way : JAF to Cyprus, TQ from Cyprus, meals available on one flight but not on the other one ... Anyway, if they promise you a 3 course meal and you don't get to see your starter but just the average chicken w/ rice and a cookie for desert, I wouldn't even pay 9 eur extra. Quite unbelievable that star rated chefs are willing to link their name to such an experience. Anyway, no big deal, as I said - JAF was pretty much ok to me ...sn26567 wrote:What did you expect for 9 euros?capetown wrote:But I was terribly dissappointed by the Wout Bru (supposedly 3 course) meal I ordered.
