(AFP) - There are 22 hours
HONG KONG - Hong Kong Airlines and Airbus have agreed on the purchase by the Chinese airline to 10 Airbus A380, which is an order of $ 3.8 billion at list prices, Bloomberg reported on Saturday and the Financial Times.
Airbus expects to deliver its first A380 in the Chinese company, a subsidiary of AST China in 2015 indicated these media. Bloomberg quotes Kenneth Thong, an official of the airline, as the source of his information.

Re: hong kong airlines
China had threatened to block that deal because of their CO2 tax dispute with the EU, but now apparently they have accepted. Maybe their mouth is not as big as the economic interests of their airlines...

Re: Hong Kong Airlines A380
when I read this my first question immediately was ... what are they going to do with 10 A380.
When you look at the HK market I honestly do not think that the A380 can be used there. For the long haul market I think they better can invest in the Boeing 777 or A350

Re: Hong Kong Airlines A380
Hong Kong Airlines has confirmed an order for 10 Airbus A380. The airline had signed a memorandum of understanding with Airbus for the aircraft at the Paris Air Show in June 2011, but the deal was only confirmed last month.
With the new aircraft, due to be delivered from 2015, Hong Kong Airlines will introduce long-haul services to Paris, London and Sydney.
Hong Kong Airlines is discussing with Airbus to take over the A380 slots that were previously filled by Qantas, which has deferred the delivery of six A380s due for delivery in 2014.

Re: Hong Kong Airlines A380
Will HK Airlines use these A380 from HKG?
I noticed that they have big expanding plans (100 acft on order) Wil they compete with Cathay/Dragonair on the HKG market or will they use these acft on the Chinese market?

Re: Hong Kong Airlines A380
Not all aircraft HK has on order are for them own...did you also notice Hainan has a rather limited amount of aircraft on order? Especially their widebody orders go through Hong Kong Airlines. Except the 10 788's they have on order they don't have widebody orders anymore if I'm correct, but they will keep getting new widbodies in the comming years (next to the 787's) which were ordered by HK Airlines.me109 wrote:Will HK Airlines use these A380 from HKG?

This may also be the case with a part of the A380 order, I don't see HK operating 10 of them, I rather see a part of them going to Hainan.
