BRU 9-11/12/11

Post by mallday »

Hi All,

I will be travelling over to Belgium, Holland and Germany from the UK with a large group of spotters this weekend.

We will be visiting BRU (Abelag and Cargo only) at around 02.00am on Saturday (10th) morning.

We will be revisiting at around 14.00pm on Sunday.

My question is...is there anything interesting due into BRU over the weekend?

I see you guys have been lucky with the visit if Rossiya TU154, Czeck AF Yak40 etc etc....Will any of that still be around?

We are also visiting Liege twice so if anybody has and due information for there that would be fantastic.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Mark

Hello

Most of the government planes arrive during the week. But you never know off course.
During the weekend most of the TNT planes are parked at LGG.

Greetings,
All my posted timings are local !

I am more looking for any Biz, Cargo or unusal visitors due.

Thanks

Hello

First of all, would like to welcome you guys already over here (altough not yet here).
About the specials, to be honest you would have to be very very lucky because generally indeed during the weekends you don't see these movements so I fear It probably will already leave tomorrow (Rossiya) , but indeed you never know. And , another thing, didn't hear the news yet so don't know how it will be going ... but ... tomorrow is also another day of EU summit, but no idea how early or late it will be finished, there might be still some interesting planes present on Abelag, if you go early enough you might see some going out right before sunset already (if they finish on time, or who know, maybe it will take longer and will they stay during the weekend as well, who will know .. ?) But it might be possible you will only be allowed to take pictures there during the top, not when the excellences are leaving again , so mind that ... ;) . For the rest only few more things to say ... unfortunatly Saturday, Tuesday and Thursday could be considered the worst possible days to go to the airport because they are 'transient' days. Also I see you seek to arrive quite late at the airport, maybe that's not such good idea as if you want to see most interesting/heavy planes arriving it would be kinda hard as they arrive almost all between 6AM and 11AM, only few (Etihad and Qatar) arrive somewhere between 13h-15h in the afternoon, and of course the cargo's. But the general passenger traffic has it's 'downfall' at between 13h-16h so it's not so interesting going between those hours. If you just are planning to go only from 14h on Sunday, I sure hope (normally it is) that it is runway 25R for arrivals, the spotting place is a bit difficult (behind a cemetary) but at least you will have all the cargo aircraft as well, which normally arrive in the afternoon, so ... and sunday is pretty 'ok' for cargo flights.
Departing traffic outpeaks AFTER sunrise (after the wave 6h-8h) would be from about 9h-13h30, you can see most of the heavy's leaving between that times, although hard to get a good spot close to the departing runway 25R. So maybe that's something to keep in mind ;)

If I only didn't had to work I would be even glad to join you guys and guide you around but unfortunatly I can't ... :(
But I hope this was a bit usefull to have an idea when and where to go. Furthermore, check the Brussels Airport website, usually you can already spot the heavy' onse, general destinations to expect heavy traffic (or upgrades) are : Atlanta, Chicago, San Francisco , Addis Ababa, Istanbul, New York, Newark, Philadelphia, Bangkok, Shanghai, Beijing, all African destinations, Toronto, Montreal, Washington, Abu Dhabi, Doha, ... of course, the classical ones, I guess you could have figured it out yourself, only mind some extra destinations like Casablanca, Istanbul, Tunis , etc ... they might upgrade from time to time depending the season, how I only expect TK to do upgrades this periods ...

If you would have any more questions, just ask, I'll try to help you as good as possible ;)

Best regards & have fun,

Yannick

Hi Yannick,

Very useful, especially the information on the EU Summit, As we are arriving around 02.00am Saturday morning just to look in at Abelag and the Cargo area I am hoping we may get lucky with some interesting visitors.

I am praying for that TU154 to still be in too! But I wont keep my hopes up!

Thanks again for everybodies feedback

Mark

Hi

Well the top started only this evening it seems so it will for sure take till tomorrow afternoon, don't know though if they will be still there Saturday, that would only be because of extreme difficulties to achieve an agreement, but everything is possible seen the complexity ;). In the case they are still there I hope for you guys they parked the Tupolev in front this time and not behind all the rest of the bizjets ;)

If you look at the post of 09/12/2011 you can see there are 2 bizjets expected, Legacy 600 to Farnborough and Citation Mustang, not that it is SO special, but just in case you might see them ;)

Greets, Yannick
