Pegasus Airlines is working an a big order for "more than hundred narrowbodies" and this by the end of this year. The order would be worth about 9 billion dollar at list prices.
They say they'll probably go for the 737MAX, but the A320neo stays a possibility. Altough less likely as the CEO of Pegasus said recently that they would retire the A320series of Izair and they would continue would Boeing only. So if this order goes (partly) to Airbus, this would be a loose for Boeing, but I doubt that will happen.

How does that work
I agree, the order is Boeing's to lose. A pity, really, as I'm rather enjoying seeing the NEO rack up the orders.

Re: Pegasus to order "more than 100 NB's before year's end"
Today Boeing confirmed they have 700 commitments from 9 customers for the 737MAX, this is up from 600 from 8 customers at the end of October. This may mean Pegasus signed a letter of intend with Boeing already, of course it can also be an other customer.
Boeing hopes to firm up some of these commitments into firm contracts by the end of this year or by early 2012. As Boeing still had a lot to decide about the 737MAX it was difficult to sign firm contracts in the previous months as they couldn't include specifications in the contracts as these were not known yet. Now they know more about the planned performance of the 737MAX (especially about the engine) and firm contracts can be signed in the comming months.

I find the Boeing figures rather disturbing: apart from the 100 planes for AA, nobody (outside of Boeing) knows where these orders come from. Airbus is much more open: all ~1250 orders for the A32S NEO have been identified!MR_Boeing wrote:Today Boeing confirmed they have 700 commitments from 9 customers for the 737MAX.

The thing is that many of these customers don't want the order to be announced as long as it is not firmed. And most of these commitments were signed before someone even knew some very important specifications about the 737MAX. Normally it wouldn't be a problem, but it could be that the customers decide not to order it when they know more about the aircraft...a bit annoying when you announced to the world a letter of intend or a memorendum of understanding for 50-100 (to say something) of these aircraft. At the time the big orders came in for the A320neo this program was more mature, Airbus could tell much more to their customers. In the first months Airbus also didn't attract so much customers that wanted to announce their commitment, but suddenly everyone started to order it.sn26567 wrote:I find the Boeing figures rather disturbing: apart from the 100 planes for AA, nobody (outside of Boeing) knows where these orders come from. Anyway, it's not that Boeing is going to 'lie' about this, if Boeing get's no orders, they just shut up (like with the 748i and the 787 latest years) and say they trust in more demand in the future. This is just an amount of customers that do not want their commitment to be announced yet (except for AA).
