TUI Airlines Belgium fleet expansion?

According to French-Belgian daily Le Soir, dated Jan 31, TUI Airlines Belgium would not start flying Apr 1 using 2 B-734, but might be using up to 6 B-737-800 from the start.

Following Sobelair's demise they need aircrafts with more capacity and a longer range...

Still only rumors at this time though...

Indeed Jense, and for those crews looking for jobs too...

but I still believe that TUI needs some real long-haul operations...
A couple of 767 would be nice!

Those 737-800 have a nice range (AF starts extra flights to Congo soon using a 738, see news elsewhere), but can't take their 180 passengers to the Carribean...

I heard someone from JetAir say that they will use up to 6 Boeing B737-800's from their German collegues. So this must be Hapag LLoyd. It is not completely shure, but there's a 70 to 80% chance the deal will come through.
Let's just hope they will use belgian pilots and FA's instead of German pilots and FA's from Hapag LLoyd.

Just checked and the contact told me that they won't fly to the Carribean. The would only do intra-european flights ...

@vflies: AF will start using the A319LR, not the B737BBJ...

About TUI Airlines Belgium, I only know about 2 planned aircrafts till now:

1) OO-??? ex-D-AHLL (B734)
2) OO-TUI ex-D-???? (B738 - not yet assigned)

Both ex-Happag Lloyd.

I think they will get 767's as well since they are recruiting for 767 pilots...

I still see trips to the Carribean, Kenya and other exotic places in JetAir and VIP's (beautiful) summer brochures...
So, does your contact know who will fly those routes for them if TAB doesn't?

No sorry. According to him, they won't opperate 767's either. They'll just use 767 pilots for 737's as the systems are very similar.

TUI AIRLINES BELGIUM
Is planning to inaugurate operations on 01May04 however the airline could be airborne as early as 02Apr04.
TUI Airlines Belgium will start with a fleet of 5 Boeing 737 :
2 B737-800s previously operated by Sobelair.
2 B737-400s previously operated by Hapag Lloyd.
1 B737-300 with no confirmation as to where the aircraft is coming from.

Besides the negative news of the Sobelair bankruptcy maybe some good news: that they keep the Boeing 737-800's in Belgium....

TUI Airlines Belgium [TAB] confirmed today they will be operating these aircraft as from April 1st :

Boeing 737-400 (168-170 pax)

OO-TUI

OO-TUA

OO-TUB

Boeing 737-800 (189 pax)

OO-VAC

OO-VAS

All aircraft will be equipped with inflight entertainment videoscreens.
Sabena Technics has been contracted for the maintenance of the fleet.

Not likely, as aircraft once taken up a Belgian (OO-) registration they will keep this throughout their carreer and won't be re-registered.
