I agree Chris that an airline needs its own identity. It is nice though that SNBA has remembered its heritage and kept the tail logo of Sabena and the SN code of Sabena. It's just a pity they didn't have the name as well

Andre - I hadn't noticed the bird design on the timetable, I'll have to have another look at the ones I've got, but it did look nice painted onto the winglet, like the Belgian flag did with VG/Delsey aircraft.

Well, I agree with you Louise that it's a pity, but as I allready told in another topic, the name Sabena has a bad reputation and image after all what happended. It woudln't have been a good reason from a managment ppoint of view to keep the Sabena name.
But I'm going
fftopic: now, so let's get ack to VLM's colours

From what I remember of a news piece I submitted last year, one of the new Fokker 50s will be based in Liverpool to operate the upcoming LPL-LCY service (beginning on 23rd February). It may be a safe bet that one aircraft will be named "City of Liverpool" as VLM also have "City of Manchester" which was named to commemorate the inauguration of MAN-LCY, and "City of London" among others. All the aircraft in the fleet are named after places.

Well, it's maybe because I'm not really used to it yet, but I think the old colours were better, but as you said they are very nice.
I see they've put the internet adress on the engines. It's seems like they've taken the idea od SNBA: FlySN.com
FlyVLM.com
I didn't remember there old adress being that one...
Anyway, Louise asked for a blue liverey, she cannot complain

The windows of this Fokker look more "defined" than on the older livery, I think. It does indeed bring to mind the livery of OO-VLM, I will have to hope I see one in person when I go to BRU (or even in MAN) to make my mind up properly. The colours of OO-VLM took some getting used to when I saw a photo of it, but then I saw the aircraft "live" and thought it looked okay. My major criticism of the colour scheme is, as ever, the engines. They would be better all in blue instead of part black, that does not look nice when you see the aircraft close up because it looks as though the engine has been on fire!
I thought it would be "City of Liverpool" though
Will be interested to see what the other new addition will be called.

Airlines tend to follow a "fashion" for colour schemes. The current one is to have the web address as part of the livery. In the late 1990s it was a white fuselage with large lettering which became the "fashion". In the 1980s, cheatlines and nose spots were "in".
How long will it be before another "colour scheme fashion" comes out and millions have to be spent by the airlines in designing yet another new livery?

It's not a bad livery
I really like it. Somehow it has a low-cost-ish touch with the big .com adress:!:
I think the fact that they also stylized the lion wasn't that bad, as today it is more fashionable to have a simple logo.
Comet:
The black color on the aft part of the engines probably has a reason. That part maybe gets very easily dirty

So what? It's homebase is Antwerp and it's still a Flemish airline.sn26567 wrote:Not anymore since the owner is Dutch...TWA wrote:I like it , except for one thing, they got rid of their golden Flemish lion:
The "V" in VLM is loosing its identity.
I thought the this flying lion was their trade-mark.
It's indeed a pitty the Flemish lion is (partially) gone... but VLM will always remain the Vlaamse Luchtvaart Maatschappij.
PS: The 'boss' of SNBA is also a Dutchman, does this mean SNBA is no Belgian airline anymore? Ofcourse not!
