You know that Condor is currently operating some of the former long-haul Sobelair flights for Jetair with a B757-200. Given the range of this aircraft, it has to make an intermediate stop.
I just saw on the BIAC website that the flight DE 8920 to Varadero and Punta Cana made that stop on the Açores islands, at Terceira.

Not quite right !
Condor operates this flights on behalve of touroperator Thomas Cook Belgium.
JetAir contracted LTU [333] and last weekend Air Plus Comet [313] to fly the Long Haul flights.

The market is evolving. In the past it used to be SLR who flew all the flights of all the Touroperators in Belgium. An dit was the same in all countries (think of Condor for example). Now that there are only two big european players left, they are taking the flight sector in hteir own hands:!:

Not 100% true, but as much as they can....
That is called vertical integration...
They are producing a mass product for the masses. No excellence there!
These products have to be suited to a wide range of people of different nations. Now you will sit next to a German in your tourcar (no problem they are punctual), eat the same as the British (oh boy!), and share your evenings with tattling French, Italians and Spaniards.
Is Belgium becoming a select holiday destination for the ... Belgians?
There is a future for niche operators!

???
Forgotten about all other (charter)airlines? CityBird, Air Belgium, Constellation/BFS, Virgin Expres/EBA/TEA, Brussels International, ChartAir, SkyJet (flew initially to the Dominican Republic for the Sunair/Jetair cooperation), Challengair, ... etc etc
Well there are maybe 2 very big players out there (Thomas Cook and TUI) but those aren't the only ones. If you count all other companies they have a big market share as well.
And I really hope that TC and TUI won't be the only ones in the future
According to VRT the creditors are having talks with the boss of Baron Security.
His intentions are to take over "some parts of Sobelair."
So could Sobelair be renamed Baronair?

Baron reportedly knows as much about running an airline as Vastapane did when he took over SLR...
As a result we can really question his ability to fly the Sobelair plane in those more than bumpy flight conditions

Yes: Luc Mellaerts. But he did more harm than good, invoiced 2 million € to Sobelair for his consultancy firm and spent weeks of luxurious nights in Johannesbourg hotels at Sobelair costs.

Mellaerts was probably looking for opportunities to turn the SLR house-hold name into a tour-operator
