Hey, I think it is teh same Harvard I saw in 1988 or 1989 at Brasschaat gras airstrip. I asked about this several years ago. I lost the post and reply. But on Google Earth you get immediately the link:

I do remember that when the Harvard was standing outside it was an impressive airplane, much bigger than expected.
It was the same week that there was a line up of Apache helicopters at Brasschaat. Even more impressive...

This newspaper has to watch out. It posts replies that can be regarded as a menace. Saying that this airplane would be a great target is a bit over the edge, certainly according some current trials against similar websites and posts.

Quite remarkable to read in the newspaper so many hostile replies against NVA, BDW and Flemish society in whole.
And we don't read a lot about defending Belgium as a nation. It seems as polarisation between Wallonie and Flanders has escalated.
But ...somewhere in mid 90'ies I read in the Bangkok Post that Belgium was on the brink of civil war. It contained an interview with Willy Claes, ex NATO secretary.

Some symbols of Belgian unitarism have disappeared: Sabena ( + Sobelair) ( aviation) , the Société Générale ( industrie ) and the RMT ( maritime ).
But aviation is still active in Belgium, many of the former daughter companies of the SG are now modern companies and Ostend is still an important harbour for traffic between Belgium and the UK.

Dear DR, you sent me links that made me gasp for air.
First of all: it was a good opportunity to learn a new word: accaparrer. ( meaning something like monopolising)

But reading those articles and replies, I was really blinking my eyes. For other members: don't bother. Small resume: the French speaking press is angry at the Belgian ministers who visited Le Bourget because there was just 1 French speaking minister, and they visited just 1 stand of a french speaking company, and 7 Flemish ones.
But the journalist had not done his homework, because a second French speaking minister had arrived by car.
Other remark about the quantity of Walloon exhibitors: if you look at the list of Belgian exhibitors, you find some companies on the same stand. Great company by the way, seriously, their boss speaks even perfectly Dutch. ( customer of me)
Another Walloon company uses more German in daily conversation. It is also a customer of me and all conversation is in German ! ( and English for non-Belgian suppliers ) For the non-Belgians: German is also an official language in Belgium, spoken by the inhabitants of the East-Kantons.
OK, so far trying to explain the unexplainable.

I wonder why that journalist did not ask why there were so few French speaking ministers? Too much work maybe?
Oh yes,I spent yesterday entirely in the Walloon heartland, providing work for Walloon companies. Two companies complained that they couldn't find enough personnel ( in a 20% unemployment region ). The third at Beaumont is run by a Flemish and he employs French people from accross the border.
And to end this reply with a very simplified example to show who works in this country: the fences at the shopping center of Jemappes have been installed by a company in Waregem, a Flemish city 100 km away. Jemappes near Mons is the heartland of Minister President Di Rupo. I didn't know that there was no fencing company at Mons or that fencing is so high tech it has to be imported from "abroad"

You didn't get it Khun Regi, It is not only about one minister VL against another minister FR, it is also the size of the delegation and his composition(90% VL?), also flying from BRU to LBG,(goed bestuur,???), and with the belanger's on-board of course the WL industry was not the priority....You forgot to mention as well that Wallonia is 75% of the Aeronautical industry in Velgium.

But don't worry, people's start to get use to it in this part of the country...

The exemple you mention about the fence is also quite interresting, WL is open when it comes to public work, highway construction/repair, and any other call for tenders, meaning that the work is granted to the company that gives the best price/quality ratio....

It is not the case in Holy Flander's where the contract goes to the VL companies in priority, and don't try to say the opposite, I can give you a thousand exemples....It is so true that nowadays the WL companies don't even answer to the call of tenders coming from the Mighty land, they prefer to concentrate their energy with France where they still have a chance to win....and it's working.

Talking about tenders...we don't forget the busses for TEC that went to Renault , your beloved France, instead of a Belgium company. ( whose CEO was so well recognised by our royalty that he was "upgraded" in nobility )

And don't worry: Van Hool buys a lot from Walloon companies without giving automatic preference to Flemish companies.

Examples please about those tenders that Walloon companies don't have a chance to win because of Flemish supremacy. I am curious.

I had a chat with people from the construction business and their exemples were numerous, I can't recall all of them,... anyway...

Also do you remember the guy's (12of them?)working for the federal administration in Bruxelles (regie des batiments)and favorising flemish contractor's.

- the federal police buying S&W Revolver's instead of FN Herstal...

You know, Wallonia has a very very negative trade balance with Flander's, if you go to the supermarket 80% of the product's are coming from Flander's, meaning we buy a lot to Flander's, if WAL doesn't buy to other nation's how could we establish a good trade relation with other nations.

The bus thing might be a part of the deal with the French military who ordered FN submachine gun...who knows...

Just to remind you as well that the trade balance between Belgium and France is negative for France up to 6 Billion's Euros, we can assume that 85% of these 6 billions is from Flander's....I'm sure that you can drawn your own conclusion Khun Regi, France is one of your best customer!

But it is true that a little bit more loyalty on both side would help...but, I really think that now, it is too late and VL and WL-BRU should go their own way, the cultural and economical gap is too big now (probably accelerated by some politicians)...

I wish you the best of luck, and on my side, personally, I don't bother to have to pay more if I'm free...

And you want to pay more to be free of the Flemish ??
Seems you feel hostile about the Flemish ..

Maybe some politicians and some people need reality feelings again,
Belgium shouldn't be split up, the Flemish needs some real government with a good justice,
healthcare,pensions,economic purposes and the south .. I guess the same,
maybe the idea of a Marshall plan for Wallonia isn't that bad but then with a strict a real government instead
of the giving everything for free and let it be paid by others mentality !

Seems 18 trillion of tax savings can't be paid only by a half country..

But no these politicians seems searching every reason (FDF) for not making any progress at all !
Good job and in the end,believe me,belgium will not be splitted but we can pay the bill all ourselves,
more,much more but then your free ( but under european restrictions ).

If Belgium is split up I'll go for the 2 options : asking asylum in the netherlands cause we were ripped off by our FR-BRU friends, or I 'll be taken up (luckily I still have this option available at all time ) my second nationality.. Italia !! At least the world can understand the fiasco of the Italian community ( it has never changed - made progress hahah) but which country can understand todays Belgium situation

Until then I wish all the best for my FR-BRU friends, hope they finally stop these tricks and try to make a Belgium community again, indeed only 30 percent of the Flemish wants to be seperated but for now 100 percent of the Walloons don't have any sense by now..

Funny, I know lots of French speaking people (from Brussels Region and Wallonia) who feel exactly the same... except they replace "FDF" by "NVA".

I don't want to start a discussion on who is wrong or who is right (nothing is totally black or write), this fact just illustrates that the way the politicians and the media present the situation gives a totally different vision depending on the language it is told.

By the way, even as a Belgian born and living in Brussels region of which the mother tongue is French (note my wording: I'm not presenting myself as a Frenchspeaker living in Brussels), I sometimes want to punch some FDF leaders the same way I would love to do with NVA's... and shake all other politicians shouting: "Everybody put some water in his wine, discuss all together, find compromise, and form a government. Now!"

We should do like the election of the pope: we lock them all in one room, and they don't go out until a solution is found. And in the meantime, we organize a huge party with all our fellow country(wo)men, no matter what language we speak! Don't matter if we order "une chope" or "een pintje": the beer will taste the same

As a lot of flemish I can agree with a lot of points of NVA but sometimes they are sooo wrong,
depending the subject..

When inhabitants of Brussels ( and beyond) are really wounded, robbed, killed, the mayors of Brussels just call it a fait-divers.
So if the Flemish quality newspapers are condemned by those mayors that they exaggerate rape, burglary, no go areas for police, it is no wonder that those same newspapers see such a minor, minimal injustice as a fait-divers, not really mentionable in a quality paper.
And don't forget about minister Bourgeois his decision about refusing to appoint an illegal mayor: dura lex sed lex ! Free interpretation of the law leads to situations where civilians get upset and take the right in their own hands.
Hey guys, that taxi driver who almost killed that police man at the National Airport of the Kingdom of Belgium: he was released last week on conditions. (probably promising that he would not be an illegal taxi driver anymore , would pay taxes , respect uniformed police and other officials
If that TAK person gets in trouble with the law in Brussels, I have 1 suggestion: try to put your case on the role of the same judge who released that taxi Rambo.

I didn't laugh about the brutality against that person (who wants to trespass Flemish legislation ) I was laughing about the way legisation works in Brussels , and in Belgium in total when it goes about violence.
Oh yes, it seems that some people have forgotten how members of parliament were aggressively attacked ( pictures of parlementarians being hold in the groin are avaiable on internet) by riot police who was especially brought in from French speaking Liège beforehand. The politicians had no intention to riot. But the mayor of Brussels ordered riot police . I don't make a distinction between such a case of aggression male or female.
This mayor seems to refuse the fact that Brussels is also capital of Flanders and that Flemish politicians are free to perform their role as politician in their own capital.
Anyway, in both cases violence was not allowed. Faits divers as the mayors of Brussel call it. Not my words.

When you see us in the south or in Bruxelles, we are just a bunch of looser surviving on the unemployement benefit, voting communist, and sipping Jupiler the all day long...the good thing is that we can enjoy the life without working at all, there's always a flemish wich is working for our unemployement benefit.
